When a book or a movie is a runaway hit, it's tempting for those who created it to want to milk it for all it's worth. But in this case, are things going a bit too far? Reportedly, the author of arguably the world's most beloved erotic novels EL James is considering taking Fifty Shades to the stages of both Broadway and London's West End and turning the story into a musical.

It's no doubt that there would definitely be an audience for this but, still -- a musical? We'd love to hear who'd come forward to write the score for this one!

With Jamie Dornan stating that he's looking forward to moving on, putting Christian Grey behind him, and taking on new roles, it would be hard to envision anyone else filling Mr. Grey's trousers. Still, countless actors would probably love to inhabit that dark mind and have the chance to play opposite a gorgeous leading lady in such intimate scenes. (This is definitely not a play for your school field trips, LOL.)

Considering the trilogy thus far has sold over 125 million copies, and the Fifty Shades of Grey film has grossed more than $500 million globally at the box office, it's no wonder James and crew want to keep the magic alive and the money rolling in.

With the film adaptation release of Fifty Shades Darker just about a month away, that's sure to be a smashing success as well. Fifty Shades Freed is slated to be released in February of 2018, so it makes sense that James it thinking ahead, as it can take years to bring something to Broadway.

We've seen other books like Wicked and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time become monster theatrical hits, so why not Fifty Shades?

Though we're not quite ready to believe it could upstage Hamilton just yet, who knows? This trilogy has a legion of adoring fans who would snatch up tickets in a heartbeat. For those who'd like to see Christian and Anastasia's love story unfold live and right before their eyes, this could be music to their ears -- literally.
