'Fifty Shades Darker' Official Movie Rating Is Disappointing at Best

Anastasia Steele and Christian GreyWhen the the news of EL James turning Fifty Shades into a movie first got out, many were excited to watch the book come to life. And rest assured, it wasn't just the love story we wanted to see on screen. However, upon arriving to the theater, we got a far more chill version of our expectations in terms of the sex. Sadly, it seems that Fifty Shades Darker also managed an R rating, in an effort to avoid an NC-17 rating.

According to the Motion Picture Association of America's statement, this rating was granted on the grounds of "strong erotic sexual content, some graphic nudity, and language."

Sorry, but as fans of the book, we were wanting all of the dirty details.

And while we like to hope that this doesn't mean watered-down sex scenes that once made us melt as we read them on the pages of the book, that's almost guaranteed to be the case, as it was with the first installment.

We know graphic sex scenes would probably verge on lightweight porn, but we can't help but feel shortchanged. We just want the emotion we felt while reading the book, and unfortunately, that comes with plenty of vivid details that the last movie seemed to water down when it came to getting fifty shades of hot sex.

But, whatevs -- we're complaining now, but this most certainly won't stop us from being in the theater come February 2017. Nope, not one bit.
