We're sure that this triggered a "duh" moment for many fans, but the reality is this isn't all that new of a rumor. It seems like every year since the casting process began for the role, fans have thrown Somerhalder into the mix of possibilities.

However, we're not sure what sparked the rumor this time, because it's like Dornan said -- they've wrapped up filming the second and third films, and there's no coming back from that type of casting mistake.

Maybe it was the recent footage of Somerhalder reading a copy of Fifty Shades of Grey on The Vampire Diaries? Or perhaps they've simply taken the concept of fanfic manifestation to an all-new level. Not really sure. We understand that sometimes the truth hurts, so some may cry themselves to sleep in the wake of the news, while others may rest easy knowing that Dornan is here to stay. What you choose to do with this knowledge is totally up to you.

However, we hope that you embrace Christian Grey as he is, because both men truly are incredible pieces of eye candy to stare at for a couple of hours of our lives. So it's really not the worst thing if your hopes and dreams of Ian taking over the role never happens. Our Dornan dreams are just as sweet.
