EL James Addresses That Meme Comparing 'Fifty Shades' to Trump's Words

el jamesEL James' book Fifty Shades of Grey has nothing to do with electing the next President of the United States ... or words Republican nominee Donald Trump has said about women. However, Conservative radio host and former congressman, Joe Walsh thinks otherwise -- and an inspired meme has everyone fired up. Walsh doesn't understand why women are so upset about what Trump said when they also bought the erotic tome, Fifty Shades of Grey.

Perhaps you've seen the memes on social media, which echo Walsh's statement. He tweeted:

This, of course, referring to Trump's so-called "hot mic" "locker room talk" with then-Access Hollywood host Billy Bush. The year was 2005, Trump was 59-years-old, and he was prepping to film a cameo on Days of Our Lives. While on the bus with Bush (who has since been given the boot from his hosting job on Today), Trump said, "You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful -- I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the p***y ... you can do anything."

Trump also noted how he tried to hit on Nancy O'Dell: "I moved on her like a bitch, but I couldn’t get there. And she was married. ...  I did try and f*&k her. She was married."

Can we just put all politics aside and let those words sink in here. This is bad. This is rape culture. This is wrong. But Walsh doesn't see the issue people have with America's Republican choice for President saying these words considering so many have read the book, Fifty Shades of Grey. We are shocked at his inability to understand. The best person to fire back at this is EL James, the book's author. Which she did in beautiful form via tweet:

More from CafeMom: Donald Trump's Debate Lurking Is Now a Meme That's All Too Real for Many Women

We'd like to add that even if we read books with the word "p***y" in it, that doesn't mean it's okay for men to grab ours. Just like if we watch The Affair, that doesn't mean we're out looking to cheat. And if we read books of horror and gore, we're not shopping for axes to murder people. Also, we don't want to read into Walsh's comment too much, but is he dare suggesting that those who read Fifty Shades should be open to such vulgar attacks? I certainly hope not. This election sure has made all of us a little bananas.

More from CafeMom: Amber Tamblyn's Story of Sexual Assault Is Why Trump's Words Are #NotOkay

The thing with Fifty Shades is that it is a love story with a lot of kinks involved. There is the backstory of Christian's sexual abuse, too -- something we learn more of in Darker, but let's remember THIS IS A BOOK. Elena Lincoln would be in jail in real life. And the thing with Trump's words is that he suggested sexual assault on women (a suggestion he has denied). And for the record, even Trump apologized for saying it ... even if it was in his own way. He even knows it was wrong. And the Trump candidacy is real life, not a plot in a book -- he's running for President. So ... we might as well write in Christian Grey on the ballot if we're going to live in this delusion.

#NotOkay for us. #NotOkay for EL James.
