Jamie Dornan Is Heartbroken He's Leaving 'The Fall' & So Are We

Jamie Dornan leaving the fall Bad news for fans of this BBC thriller: Jamie Dornan is leaving The Fall after just three seasons and, apparently, he's just as devastated as we are. Admit it, though he's pure evil as serial killer Paul Spector, he's infinitely intriguing. Can the series continue without him?

Sure, Gillian Anderson is amazing as Detective Stella Gibson, who's hell-bent on bringing this calculating criminal to justice. But it's the conflicted dad of two (both in the series and in real life) who keeps viewers on the edge of their seats as he eludes police and stalks innocent raven-haired women.

More from CafeMom:

During a press event, Dornan, whose trailer for the upcoming Fifty Shades Darker shattered the record for views previously held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens, confided: "There's a little bit of devastation for me, I have to say. It's a job that means a lot to me, and a character that I really love playing, and a group of people that have become family over four and a half years, so it's very bittersweet."

Aw. Sweet, right? And not at all what you'd expect to hear from a man portraying a sociopath. But, still, it's always hard to leave a great gig with fantastic colleagues behind.

While it's unclear if the series would continue on for a fourth season without the social-worker-by-day-murderer-by-night, it's hard to imagine. The show's creators would have some pretty big shoes to fill.

As for Dornan's heartbreak at this role concluding, he's got plenty to keep him busy in the coming months. Fans can look forward to seeing the Irish actor on the big screen as he takes Sherwood Forest by storm in Robin Hood: Origins. Can't wait!
