13 '90s Stars in Movie Scenes That Gave Us Serious #StyleGoals

cluelessWhile it's true that some of us cringe when forced to remember the contents of our closets as teenagers, there was certainly no lack of amazing fashion inspiration to be found back in the '90s -- and one need look no further than the box office hits of that decade for proof! Sure, we didn't always wear the hottest looks as well as our favorite movie stars did, but we were still obsessed with copying their style (in fact, we're obsessed to this very day!).

From accessibly trendy outfits we tried to replicate in everyday life (um, did someone say plaid schoolgirl skirt?) to the kind of glamorous designs we could only dream about pulling off, '90s movies were filled with fashionable scenes that continue to inspire us. Click through our slideshow to see (and remember) some of the most unforgettably in vogue moments from the cinema of our youth.

  • Uma Thurman in 'Pulp Fiction'

With her sleek bob and crisp white button-down, Pulp Fiction (1994) star Uma Thurman was the definition of cool while sitting (and dancing, of course!) in Jack Rabbit Slim's. Has such a simple ensemble ever been so chic?

  • Gwyneth Paltrow in 'Great Expectations'

Long before Gwyneth Paltrow became a Goop-tastic fashion guru, the actress was runway perfect in the Charles Dickens update Great Expectations (1998). The green Donna Karan ensemble she wore to reunite with Ethan Hawke over a water fountain? Unbelievably elegant!

  • Fairuza Balk in 'The Craft'

As the star of another amazingly fashionable "walking down the school hallway" scene, Fairuza Balk (and her costars) in The Craft (1996) brought the sexy Catholic schoolgirl stereotype to life in a most delightfully dangerous way.

  • Liv Tyler in 'Stealing Beauty'

Then-newcomer Liv Tyler was as lovely as the Italian countryside in Bernardo Bertolucci's Stealing Beauty (1996), and the fluttery sundress she wore during her romantic romp with her lovely Italian crush is still the beachy summer outfit of our dreams.

  • Alicia Silverstone in 'Clueless'

It's hard to say which of Alicia Silverstone's outfits in Clueless (1995) was the most iconic, but when Cher and Dionne (Stacey Dash) breezed down the hallway in their expertly coordinated plaid ensembles, fashion history was made.

  • Drew Barrymore in 'Boys on the Side'

Nobody wore '90s fashion better than Drew Barrymore -- and never more so than in Boys on the Side (1995) when her party scene outfit (a peasant blouse and flowers in her hair) was Coachella-fabulous long before Coachella was a thing.

  • Heather Graham in 'Boogie Nights'

Heather Graham single-handedly brought heart-shaped sunglasses back in the pool scene in Boogie Nights (1997). The best thing about her micro-mini sundress and skinny braids? You don't even have to know how to roller-skate to copy the look!

  • Patricia Arquette in 'True Romance'

Patricia Arquette as Alabama in True Romance (1993) rocked a lot of amazing looks (those pink leopard-print leggings?!), but our favorite was her phone booth quick-change polka dot top and cow-print skirt. Classic!

  • Elizabeth Hurley in 'Austin Powers'

We haven't seen Elizabeth Hurley in a while, but we'll never forget the silver minidress and go-go boots she wore to speed around with Mike Myers in a cart in Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997).

  • Juliette Lewis in 'Strange Days'

Speaking of silver dresses, the futuristically foxy fringed number Juliette Lewis wore in sci-fi thriller Strange Days (1995) is about as rock 'n' roll as you can get!

  • Pam Grier in 'Jackie Brown'

Pam Grier as the title character in Jackie Brown (1997) was beyond badass, especially when she was behind the wheel wearing the most stylish stewardess outfit we've ever seen.

  • Julia Roberts in 'Pretty Woman'

The first shopping excursion Julia Roberts went on in Pretty Woman (1990) didn't go all that well, as we all remember. But her second trip to Rodeo Drive was a style triumph, and every outfit she tried on was more early '90s spectacular than the last!

  • Claire Danes in 'Romeo + Juliet'

Sure, the angelic dress/wings combo Claire Danes wore during the masquerade party scene in Romeo + Juliet (1996) was technically a costume, but it was gorgeous enough to catch Leonardo DiCaprio's eye -- and that means we'd wear it every day, party or no party!
