Audiences have waited 14 years to catch up with the large, zany, and undeniably lovable Portokalos family. This month, the wait is over as My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 finally hits theaters. Lovingly referred to as the "Greekquel," the new version shines the spotlight once again on Ian (John Corbett) and Toula (Vardalos), who are experiencing marital troubles, and introduces the couple's teenage daughter, Paris (Elena Kampuris). Of course, it wouldn't be right if viewers weren't also invited to yet another very big wedding.

The entire cast returned for the sequel, including Toula's grandma YiaYia (Bess Miller), her flamboyant aunt Voula (Andrea Martin), and her Windex-loving dad Gus (Michael Constantine). How have the cast's lives and careers changed since the original movie's debut? Find out!

"This agent I was working with said, 'You are not fat enough to be a character actress, and you’re not pretty enough to be a leading lady," Vardalos told More magazine of her struggles to find work in the mid-'90s. Determined to change her destiny, Vardalos wrote My Big Fat Greek Wedding and performed it as a one-woman show. The gamble paid off when Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks spotted her and signed on as movie producers. My Big Fat Greek Wedding became a big fat success, earning $240 million at the box office.

Over the years, fans eagerly awaited the continuation of Toula and Ian's story. So why the 14-year wait? "The reason I didn't want to do the sequel is because, at the end of the first one, I had written that we were parents," Vardalos said on NBC's Today show. "I couldn't write from a place of emotions that I didn't know because I wasn't a mom — and then I became a mom, so instantly, so suddenly." After Nia Vardalos adopted a daughter with husband Ian Gomez in 2008, a process she detailed in her 2013 memoir Instant Mom, Vardalos could finally birth the Greekquel.

As Carrie Bradshaw's ruggedly handsome and devoted beau Aidan Shaw on HBO's Sex and the City, Corbett caught Nia Vardalos's attention -- and he was soon cast as Ian Miller, Toula's love interest in My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Aidan may have suffered two consecutive heartbreaks on SATC, but Ian defied the "nice guys finish last" adage, winning Toula's heart and the approval of her extensive Greek family.

Corbett has continued acting, with roles in 2010's Sex and the City 2 and critically acclaimed TV series like The United States of Tara and Parenthood. Moreover, Corbett became a country music star, releasing a self-titled album in 2006, followed by 2013's Leavin' Nothin' Behind. While he's romancing Nia Vardalos on screen, his real-life love is actress Bo Derek, with whom he's been linked since 2002.

Brooklyn-born actress Lainie Kazan got her big start as the understudy for Barbra Streisand in the original Broadway production of Funny Girl in 1964. Starting in the '80s, Kazan mastered the art of playing sympathetic but often overbearing moms: from Belle Steinberg Carocca in 1982's My Favorite Year to Leona Bloom in 1988's Beaches and, of course, Maria Portokalos in My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

Since 2002, Kazan has guest starred on Desperate HousewivesModern Family, and Grey's Anatomy. Still, the role of Maria Portokalos is near and dear to her — particularly given her own experiences growing up in a large Jewish family. "It was everyone talking at the same time, 'eat and you'll feel better' and [female] relatives who nourished, literally and figuratively," Kazan, now 75, said of the parallels between her upbringing and Toula's experience in MBFGW.

  • Joey Fatone -- Then

While still a member of 'NSYNC, Joey Fatone decided to try acting. "[’NSYNC] can get tiring after a while and you’re like, ’I want little bit of a change,’” Fatone told MTV at a screening of My Big Fat Greek Wedding, in which he played Toula's cousin Angelo. “[So you] go do a movie. And then you’re like, 'Okay, now I can go back to writing and dancing and performing with ’NSYNC.’”

After 'NSYNC disbanded in 2002, Fatone turned to musical theater, headlining a 2002 Broadway production of Rent and a 2004 Little Shop of Horrors revival. He also forayed into reality television, competing in Dancing with the Stars in 2007 and finishing as runner-up. The married father of two daughters, Briahna and Kloey, currently hosts Live Well Network's My Family Recipe Rocks!

"I created that character for her," Nia Vardalos told Hollywood.com of Andrea Martin's role as Aunt Voula. At the time, Martin was already an Emmy-nominated actress (for the sketch comedy series SCTV) and a Tony winner (thanks to her performance in the 1992 Broadway musical My Favorite Year). Martin had also lent her voice to such animated series as Rugrats, The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, and Recess.

The accolades have kept on coming for Andrea Martin, who holds the record for most Tony noms for Best Featured Actress in a Musical (five). In 2013, she won her second Tony for Pippin and in 2015, she joined the cast of Hulu's Difficult People. Of coming back to her Greek film family, Martin has said, "Every single person was asked back so there's something very sweet about that. It's like a reunion."

  • Michael Constantine -- Then

Few characters in My Big Fat Greek Wedding were as memorable and hilarious as Toula's Windex-loving dad, played by Greek-American actor Michael Constantine. Prior to his role as Gus, Constantine was best known for playing principal Seymour Kaufman in the 1969 series Room 222, for which he won a Best Supporting Actor Emmy

"I can't tell you how many times I've autographed a Windex bottle," Constantine said in a 2014 interview with Pennsylvania's Reading Eagle. Now 88, he's excited to reprise his role. "The script is good — it's very ethnic, which is what made the first film so hilarious," he said. "The TV series took out all that ethnic stuff, and we were left with a bland American sitcom, which is why it failed."
