'Fifty Shades of Grey' Just Might Win an Oscar This Weekend

fifty shades of greySexy. Full of intrigue. Oscar worthy. These are words to describe Fifty Shades of Grey. Our favorite domrom is up for an Academy Award thanks to the song "Earned It" by The Weeknd. While some are laughing, we are rooting for a win.

Not only is the song up for an Oscar, but The Weeknd is set to perform during the show as well. He showed some fancy footwork at the Grammys, so I wonder what he has in store for us this time. Will he enlist the help of Dakota Johnson like he did in the video for "Earned It"? That would be incredible. In case you don't recall, here is a snapshot of Dakota's cameo.

The Weeknd has some tough competition. He is up against Lady Gaga's "Til It Happens to You" from the movie The Hunting Ground and Sam Smith's "Writing's On the Wall" from Spectre. He's not favored to win if you look at what the critics out there are saying, but many Fifty Shades fans are crossing their fingers and toes (and ropes) for him to bring home the trophy. No matter what, this has ensured that Fifty Shades of Grey has a presence at the Oscars -- we will even get to see a clip of the film during presentation ... if the way the award is presented follows the script of how it's been done in the past.

More from The Stir: Dakota Johnson Shares Her Inhibitions Regarding 'Fifty Shades Darker'

It has to be mentioned that Fifty Shades is up for some other awards ... but they are opposite of the Oscars. The naughty flick has nominations over at the Razzies for Worst Picture, Worst Actor, and Worst Actress. I'm going to guess that Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson are laughing this off. As they should. Fifty Shades has supplied us with entertainment and fantasy, which is a lot more than we can say about some other films. Plus, Oscar-winner Kim Basinger is signed on for Fifty Shades Darker, which only increases its appeal.

I'm rooting for The Weeknd.
