Dakota Johnson Gets an Unexpected Award Nomination

Dakota Johnson is getting recognized for her talents, and Fifty Shades of Grey fans couldn't be happier for her. The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has nominated Johnson for the EE Rising Star Award, and she's in great company with the other nominees.

Along with Dakota, John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Brie Larson (Room), Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service), and Bel Powley (The Diary of a Teenage Girl) were nominated. Award show buffs will recall that Kristen Stewart, Tom Hardy, and James McAvoy have won in the past.

We all know that Fifty Shades of Grey wouldn't have been the movie that it was if not for the talents of Johnson and Jamie Dornan, so I think this is certainly well earned based on her performance in the dom-rom alone. I realize not everyone is going to feel this way -- why Fifty Shades continues to get eye rolls from people is beyond me. But besides Fifty Shades of Grey, Johnson was in Black Mass with Johnny Depp, an indie flick A Bigger Splash with Tilda Swinton (coming to the States soon), and the upcoming How to Be Single with Rebel Wilson. Impressive resume, I'd say -- Fifty Shades and all.

I'm thrilled Dakota's talent was recognized and we get another awards show appearance by this lovely actress who (in my opinion) always wears the coolest clothes.
