'Everybody Wants Some' Is a Must-See '80s Follow-Up to 'Dazed & Confused' (VIDEO)

Everybody Wants SomeIf you have fond (but hazy?) memories of Dazed and Confused, you're going to love this: Filmmaker Richard Linklater is back with another retro ensemble movie, Everybody Wants Some, that looks like it's going to be totally bitchin'. Because this time, it's the '80s.

If you recall, Dazed and Confused took place on the last day of school in 1976, and gave us what is possibly Matthew McConaughey's best role ever. (Okay, he's done great work since then, but still ... it's classic!) Everybody Wants Some centers around a bunch of newbie baseball recruits as they start college, sometime in that magical decade of super-short shorts on guys.

Richard Linklater called Everybody Wants Some the "spiritual sequel" to Dazed and Confused, and we have to agree. It's got a different cast of characters, and a whole new (totally rad) aesthetic, but based on the trailer, it seems like it's going to be an equally hilarious, insightful, and painfully authentic look into the lives of goofy kids coming of age and just trying to figure things out.

It'll be worth watching for the '80s flashback experience alone!

By the way -- if you were a little, er, dazed and confused the last time you saw that movie (it was back in 1993, after all), here's the trailer for a little refresher. It looks so groovy and dated, and not just because it takes place in the '70s! Was 1993 really that long ago?!
