Dakota Johnson Shows Off Her Whimsical Side in Unique Sheer Dress (PHOTO)

We're starting to get used to seeing Fifty Shades of Grey's Anastasia Steele making quite an entrance on red carpets everywhere dressed to the nines in incredibly chic and elegant gowns. But this is brand-new fashion territory for Dakota Johnson, who wore a sheer folk-inspired dress to the Hollywood Film Awards in Los Angeles.

My first thought when I saw the words "sheer dress" and "Dakota Johnson" together were: yawn, another celeb is donning a dress that shows more of her than necessary. In my humble opinion, showing lots of skin at events has become commonplace and boring. So I was delighted to find out Dakota's dress is unconventional: Instead of aiming for plain old sexy, she wore a sheer, floral embellished dress that features glitter along the hemline and collar:

Apparently she went sans bra, though I'm not sure how anyone could even tell, given the fact that she's completely covered up on top, at least where it matters. I think this dress is fun, festive, and perfect for the event, which isn't as formal as something like the Oscars. I also feel like it complements her youthful, slightly bohemian off-duty style -- and I love how it features full-length sleeves and is sheer without showing anything more than a glimpse of thigh. This is how a celeb dresses in order to retain a bit of mystery.

And can we talk about Dakota's hair for a sec? What magical unicorn is touching down upon her brunette locks and bestowing them with such a warm glow? Her highlights and subtle balayage are perfection. Overall, I feel like this is a great look for the 26-year-old actress, who is becoming a bit of a fashion maven lately. Considering her recent trips to all of the spring fashion week shows, I have a feeling we're going to get to see a lot of different looks on Dakota in the next few months, especially when she promotes Fifty Shades Darker.

Bring 'em on!
