Angelina Jolie Says She & Brad Pitt Have 'Issues' but Their Relationship Sounds Pretty Great to Us (VIDEO)

angelina jolie, brad pittJust because Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's new movie is about a couple whose marriage is on the rocks doesn't mean there's any reason to assume that art is imitating life. As Angie recently admitted to Vogue, she and Brad have their "issues" -- but they're nothing like the ones their fictional counterparts are dealing with in the film!

By the Sea, which was also written and directed by Angie, is essentially about a couple having some sorts of marital problems while staying at a seaside resort in 1970s France. (Which, if you're gonna have marital problems, ain't such a bad place have 'em.) And we're not talking, like, "Ugh, you forgot to take out the trash again" marital problems, either -- we're talking, like, sobbing and slamming doors and slapping around marital problems. Which, according to the interview Angie gave Vogue for their November issue (of which she's the cover model), are nothing like the day-to-day things she and Brad deal with:

"Brad and I have our issues, but if the characters' were even remotely close to our problems we couldn't have made the film."

That's a relief, because this behind-the-scenes clip is pretty intense:

Gotta say, this film looks gorgeous -- as do Angie and Brad -- but it also looks like some seriously heavy watching.

Which makes me think it was also a seriously heavy experience to make, particularly for a couple that's married IRL. Indeed, Jolie also told Vogue that making the movie wasn't "the safest idea," but as Brad said in the above trailer, it was also "oddly a safer environment" than any set he'd been on before. All of which says to me that these two must have an incredibly strong bond: Even the unsafest of territories you can still feel safe when you're with the right person. #relationshipgoals, anyone?
