Dakota Johnson's Crippling Fear Almost Stopped Her From Playing Anastasia Steele

dakota johnsonWe are learning quite a bit about Dakota Johnson -- aside from the fact that she has a butt double in Fifty Shades of Grey so she wouldn't get spanked so much. Even so, we know she's not afraid of nudity and seriously sexy subject matter. But it has just been revealed that Dakota has anxiety attacks when auditioning -- intensely crippling ones. To think that a panic attack could have kept her from becoming Ana!

Dakota told AnOther magazine:

Sometimes I panic to the point where I don't know what I'm thinking or doing. I have a full anxiety attack. I have them all the time anyway, but with auditioning, it's bad. I'm so terrified of it. I have crippling self-doubt! But the things I'm the most afraid of, I run towards.

I love her vulnerability. And the way she challenges herself. Of course, I don't like that she (or anyone) has panic attacks at all, but good for her for working through them, for figuring out how to let them fuel her, for really challenging herself to be better. And thank goodness that it didn't stop her from getting the role of Anastasia. I cannot imagine the film without her.

Dakota isn't someone to just take a role that doesn't have a whole lot asked of her. I mean, Fifty Shades of Grey is a big deal with scenes that are quite consuming. And she also plays Johnny Depp's girlfriend in the movie Black Mass. That's a big deal! Johnny Depp!! She's not afraid to set her sights high and really go for it. I love her dedication and how much she really seems to care about her craft.

This revelation makes her all the more likeable. Sure she comes from a Hollywood family, but she's human, not just some robot actor without feelings.
