Charlie Hunnam Admits He's Still Not Over His 'Fifty Shades' Heartbreak

charlie hunnamCharlie Hunnam likes to break our hearts. Over and over and over again. The man who was first choice to play Christian Grey cannot stop talking about the fact that he had to break up with all that is Fifty Shades of Grey. He's STILL talking about, and it's bringing up a world of hurt because he's the one who got away. Charlie is still reeling from his Fifty Shades departure. He's also heartbroken. And now our world is turned upside down again.

Why he's still talking about it is confusing. But all breakups are -- sometimes there is just no understanding them no matter how hard you try. Charlie, who is set to play King Arthur in Knights of the Roundtable, just did a Christian Grey–style photo shoot for V Man #34. It's Christian Grey–style only because he's shirtless and is wearing a look that says deviance. And whenever he opens that sexy mouth of his and anything Fifty Shades of Grey–related comes out, all I can think about is the fact that I would have loved to have seen him flog Anastasia Steele.

Hunnam told V Man all about his emotions when having to leave the film:

Oh, it was the worst professional experience of my life. It was the most emotionally destructive and difficult thing that I've ever had to deal with professionally. It was heartbreaking.

I know. I was heartbroken, too, Charlie. I think we need to console each other. He went on to say how he and the director Sam Taylor-Johnson cried over the fact he wasn't going to be Christian Grey anymore. Yes. Cried.

I called her and we both cried our eyes out on the phone for 20 minutes. I needed to tell her that this was not going to work. I was going to finish Sons, shoot the whole sequence where Tara was brutally murdered, fly to Vancouver the next day, have 10 days of rehearsal, and then start shooting. Then I was going to have three days after that and I'd have to start shooting Crimson Peak and then I'd have two days to travel and go back into season seven of Sons. There was a lot of personal stuff going on in my life that left me on real emotional shaky ground and mentally weak. I just got myself so f--king overwhelmed and I was sort of having panic attacks about the whole thing. I just didn't know what to do.

So he had to say good-bye. It was an emotional departure -- heartbreaking for everyone involved. It's so hard to say good-bye.

Charlie also wanted to make sure that people know it had nothing to do with the nudity and sex scenes in Fifty Shades. If you haven't seen his incredible body on Sons, then go watch it now. Hunnam reminded us of his role in Queer as Folk, adding, "When I was 18 I was getting f--ked in the ass, completely naked on national TV, you know?"

Oh. We know.

Let's take a minute and gaze at his cover of V Man.

Am I the only one thinking of the deleted tampon sex scene? Maybe. But I haven't been the same since Charlie left so let's just blame him.
