Henry Cavill Fooled Us With 'Fifty Shades' Casting Rumors Once & Might Do It Again

henry cavillReady for another round of "Fun with Fifty Shades Casting Rumors"? If you're not, I know one person who definitely is: Man of Steel himself Henry Cavill, who's been having lots of fun leading fans on with the notion that Cavill might be joining the cast of Fifty Shades Darker!

Now, before you get too excited, you should know that Cavill is not, in fact, going to be in the movie -- but you certainly couldn't be faulted for thinking otherwise up until this point, because the actor has been intentionally messing with your head! (Is that some kind of messed up superpower or something, ersatz Superman??)

Apparently it all started before Fifty Shades of Grey came out, when rumors started flying about Cavill possibly being cast as Christian.

"The first time around, everyone was asking, 'Are you Christian Grey?' I went 'No!' But no one cared and everyone kept talking about it. This time around, everyone is now still convinced I'm part of the series. Now the question is, 'Are you going to be in 'Fifty Shades Darker.' And I thought, I'm going to try a different tact this time. See what they say. And so I tried a different tact."

That different tact turned out to be neither confirming nor denying the rumors, but totally acting as if they might have been true by replying to questions with answers like, "Basically what I can say is I can't say anything about it right now."

Oooh, you sneaky man!! Getting everybody's hopes up!! That's so un-super of you, dude. But apparently Cavill really, really likes pulling pranks on his fans, because even now that he's firmly denied the Fifty Shades connection, he admits he might try to dupe everyone into believing otherwise again:

"I'm going to do something like this again in the future and make a real social experience out of it," he warns.

Jeez! I still say this shady behavior is very unbecoming for a guy who's supposed to be carrying on the Clark Kent legacy. Or maybe I'm just bitter. Either way, this means the Fifty Shades Freed casting process is going to be an emotional roller coaster for everyone!
