'Fifty Shades Darker' May Be Way Too Steamy for a Measly 'R' Rating & We Can't Wait

The movie hasn't even started filming, and it won't be released until February 2017, but media outlets are speculating the flick will be so much hotter and heavier than the first that Fifty Shades Darker is going to need a more adult rating.

Granted, its not like we were taking the kids to the first Fifty Shades film, but director Sam Taylor-Johnson worked hard to make sure it was given a measly R rating. For this reason, she had to tone down the super-sexual content, which seems crazy, because the entire running time was filled with heat (except maybe that hardware store scene -- still chuckling about that).

But now, with EL James at the helm, reports are circulating that Fifty Shades Darker will be so steamy, the studio will need to adhere to a R-21 rating, which by U.S. standards, could mean that it will wind up with an NC-17 rating for our viewing pleasure.

We say bring it on! Hey, if you're going to bring the Fifty Shades franchise to life, you might as well do it right. And if that means it's too hot for a showing at our local theater's Monday Morning Mommy Movies, so be it. And, honestly, the more adult rating will probably make people even more interested in the sequel, because everyone's going to want to know what makes this go-round even more scandalous.
