'Fifty Shades of Grey' Alternate Ending Is More Heartbreaking Than We Thought

I've made several guesses about what the alternate ending of Fifty Shades of Grey would be but what the new iTunes release has revealed is something much more heartbreaking than what I thought. What if the movie didn't just end with Anastasia and Christian dramatically saying each others names as the elevator closes ... after that cringe-worthy spank session? Warning: spoilers ahead.

The alternate ending takes us to the moments after the elevator closing. With the beautiful (and fitting) song Say You Love Me by Jessie Ware playing, the alt ending shows us Ana and Christian attempting to go on with their lives. I sincerely hope Ana got her VW bug back.

Then we see what we really didn't want to see -- Ana crying dramatically. Fetal position and all. Break-ups are awful. Thankfully there wasn't an empty pint of Chunky Monkey on the floor next to her. She eventually gets up and on with her day -- puffy eyes from crying and all. Christian, of course, held back the tsunami of tears just waiting to come out someday, and is seen at a big important meeting not being able to pay attention because obviously he loves his Ana, but just cannot emote. I wish his hair was messed up or his suit wrinkled or something to show so his less than perfect-ness. There should have been a pint of Chunky Monkey on his desk. But no.

Ana also writes Christian a note that reads: "This reminded me of a happy time" with a toy version of that terrifying glider plane they flew in. For the record, I'd rather be flogged hard than fly in one of those. (And for the record, I'm not into being flogged. I just like to watch it on TV.) She loves him. She just can't stop. There is hope!

There are some differences between the movie and the book, so we can't say for sure exactly what is going to happen next. Though we do have the promise of the DVD release May 8th for your at-home viewing pleasure.Or head over to iTunes to watch the alt ending now.

What do you think of the alternate ending?
