If you've seen the movie, you've seen Anastasia Steele's shocked and bewildered expressions as Christian Grey showed her his love BDSM den for the first time.

Apparently, it wasn't an act. In an exclusive look at the extras on the home release of the film due in May, Johnson reveals a surprising secret about filming her first scene in the Red Room.

"The moment in the movie where you see me see the Red Room? That was the first time I had actually ever seen it," the actress confessed. "I had never seen a photograph, I had never seen them building the set -- they kept it away from me, and I didn't want to see it, because I wanted the reaction to be as genuine as possible."

Does that make sense or what? She seemed so genuinely curious and apprehensive about everything in there. She had likely read the books, and of course had memorized her lines, but there's something about seeing something in person for the first time that can't be replicated.

As for Jamie Dornan, AKA Christian Grey, he admittedly didn't employ the same restraint. He spent some time in the Red Room of Pain all by himself ... but for a good reason. As Christian Grey, he was supposed to own it, know where everything was, and feel completely at home there.

We can't wait to see what the rest of the extra features have in store for us!

Would you have guessed that Dakota Johnson's on-screen reaction to the Red Room of Pain was totally genuine?
