'50 Shades' Sequel Will Be Written by Last Person We Expected

fifty shades of grey

Well, this is pretty random! According to new reports, the sequel for Fifty Shades of Grey -- Fifty Shades Darker -- has found its writer ... and it's E.L. James' husband! Weird! The Hollywood Reporter revealed on Wednesday that James' writer husband, Niall Leonard, will be writing the screenplay for her wildly popular book. This won't be Leonard's first go at television writing. He's written for the British shows, Air Force One Is Down and Wire in the Blood

On the one hand, this is a great idea. It was reported numerous times that E.L. James and the writer of the first Fifty Shades, Kelly Marcel, butt heads throughout the shooting (and writing) of the book-turned-flick. Being that Niall is her husband, and the closest person to her, he'll likely write more to what James has in mind. (Also, she probably won't feel uncomfy asking him to change things, if it's not.)

But, of course, then there's the whole wow-this-could-get-really-awkward aspect of things. If the two do happen to disagree on things, it could get weird at home. At least James didn't have to go home to Marcel at the end of the day.

More From The Stir: E.L. James Drops Exciting Hint About 'Fifty Shades Darker' Premiere

It's highly unlikely that James would have ever agreed to letting her husband pen the flick if she (and he!) didn't think it was a good idea. I'm sure they've already had discussions about how to handle any disagreements that should arise. And I also have a sneaking suspicion that this film will wind up coming out much more in line with what James has in mind. Just a hunch.

Do you think this is a good idea?
