Jamie Dornan's Dad Shares His Real Opinion of '50 Shades'

Dakota Johnson's parents have made it abundantly clear that they won't be tuning into Fifty Shades of Grey (even step-dad Antonio Banderas said nope), but Jamie Dornan's family is another story. Dornan's dad said he enjoyed the steamy BDSM fantasy, and couldn't be prouder of his son.

Jim Dornan went to the opening night of the movie and said, "I thought the director (Sam Taylor Wood) did very well. You can only work with the materials you're given, which is a great line."

He went on, "I know it's a weird thing to say about your son but he's one of the nicest people I know. He a good guy."

The dad of three (Jamie has two older sisters) has made a name for himself as one of Northern Ireland's most eminent obstetricians, but these days he's not as famous for delivering over 6,000 babies. He says that he is now known as "Jamie Dornan's dad," and he doesn't mind a bit.

In fact, he revealed the best part about his son's fame. "The best part of the whole thing is the world now knows how to spell Dornan," he confessed. "I spent 40 years spelling it correctly to people."

Jim also gushed about Dornan family life. He said, "He is quite influential in the family and always was. He's solid, a very grounded boy. A good lad ... his sisters are very proud of him -- we all are. He's held himself well."

Where Jamie's acting career is involved, his dad said he's always been supportive. "It was a surprise when he did go down that line but we gave full encouragement to him because there has been a few people in our family that probably should have gone down that line, like my sister for example," he admitted, continuing, "My parents implied 'no.'"

Well we're glad Jamie Dornan's dad was supportive of him! He made one heck of a dreamy Christian Grey, after all.

Are you surprised that Jamie Dornan's dad watched Fifty Shades of Grey?
