Jamie Dornan's Latest Role Is a Far Cry From Christian Grey

Jamie Dornan has made secret of not wanting to be typecast as Christian Grey, the title character of the crazy popular novel-turned-movie Fifty Shades of Grey, and it looks like he's getting a chance to show us a completely different side of himself. Dornan is about to start filming an Irish military biopic based on a true story from the 1960's.

Does this mean we'll get in indulge in some ear candy, listening to the Irish-born actor's natural lilting accent? Please say yes. He can even keep his shirt on, so long as he uses that Irish accent. *Fans self*

Anyway, the film is called Jadotville, and based on the 150 Irish UN troops who were held under siege in the Congo in 1961. Dornan will play war hero Patrick Quinlan, who helped his men ward off more than 3,000 rebels.

One insider on the movie revealed, "This will show a completely different side to Jamie ... He's never made a movie about conflict before and he jumped at the chance to bring his true story to audiences."

Filming hasn't started yet, but word is that Netflix has already snapped it up. Reportedly, shooting is starting this week, and will be divided between Dublin, Wicklow, and South Africa.

The story revolves around the true story of 150 Irish troops' bravery in 1961, when they were sent to safeguard the Congo from unrest. Instead, they came under attack by 3,000 rebels for six days and six nights, as detailed in Irish military writer Declan Power's memoir, upon which the movie is based.

The source said, "The story is not as well known as it deserves to be and Jamie and the crew are hoping the film will change that." In fact, some of the Irishmen who fought at the siege are working as consultants on the movie, to make it as authentic as possible.

Wow, this definitely sounds like a different sort of film than Fifty Shades of Grey, but we bet one thing will remain constant -- Jamie Dornan will still be hot as hell.

Do you think Jamie Dornan is trying to break away from his role as Christian Grey?
