'Fantastic Four' Trailer Blows Original Jessica Alba Franchise Away (VIDEO)

fantastic four trailerTrying to burn the memories of the dismal franchise that was those Fantastic Four movies starring Jessica Alba, Ioan Gruffudd, Chris Evans, and Michael Chiklis? You're not alone. The two movies that starred this group were mindless fun and utterly forgettable, but of course, a newer, darker version is about to come out, and the trailer for the rebooted Fantastic Four has taken the Internet by storm. Storm, haha, get it? Okay, enough of your side-eye, moving on.

The latest trailer gives us plenty of sneak peeks at the newest stars, Miles Teller (Mister Fantastic/Reed Richards), Kate Mara (The Invisible Woman/Sue Storm), Michael B. Jordan (The Human Torch/Johnny Storm), and Jamie Bell (The Thing/Ben Grimm). The villain from the 2005 Fantastic Four will make an appearance in this newest installment as well; Victor Domashev/Dr. Doom will be played by Toby Kebbell.

There's a long voiceover, rumored to be Dr. Franklin Storm, father of Susan and Jonathan. "Human beings have an immeasurable desire to discover, to invent, to build," the voice booms. "Our future depends on us furthering these ideals, a responsibility that rests on the shoulders of generations to come. But with very new discovery, there is risk, there is sacrifice, and there are consequences."

Of course there are. But thank heavens for good-looking superheroes who can come in and save the day!

The trailer is dark and ominous, that is for sure, with a much different feel than some other Marvel movies that we've grown to love. Check it out:

Whew, Jordan is smokin' (literally) in the trailer, isn't he? Already people were complaining during casting announcements that Jordan is black and Johnny Storm is, indeed, white in the comics, but hopefully after watching him in this trailer, they will soon shut up about it.

Anyway, recent Marvel box office bonanzas The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy proved to be winners among audiences and critics alike; no doubt the folks behind this new Fantastic Four are hoping for the same. Though this trailer lacks the lighthearted comedy of those previous franchises, the anticipation for this darker film is already so palpable, it should do just fine all on its own. You may be complaining about the inundation of comic book films over the past few years, but dorks like us will just keep watching, so you may as well accept it and join in on the fun.

Fantastic Four will premiere August 7.

Will you be watching the newest Fantastic Four? Did you like the older movies?
