What Dakota Johnson's 2015 Plans Mean for Future 'Fifty Shades' Movies

For Fifty Shades of Grey super fans, it feels like it took forever for the first book in the trilogy to be made into a movie. With advanced ticket sales for the February 13 opening soaring, it seems more than likely we'll get to see the following two novels make it to the big screen as well. But will Dakota Johnson be a part of them?

Gracing the February 2015 cover of Vogue, Johnson's comments related to her plans for the rest of this year are a bit troubling:

I do a bit of press for Fifty, and then I'm just going to take the rest of the year off. I want to hang out with my friends. I want to hang out with my family -- well, sometimes I want to hang out with my family.

Uhhh, no work plans for the rest of the year? Though reports on the possibility of more than one Fifty Shades movie have been mixed, it's fairly safe to assume that if Universal chooses to go ahead with a second Fifty Shades film, they'll want to hop on that bandwagon right away (Hollywood is not known for its patience, after all). In fact, it would be pretty shocking if we learned the second book hasn't already been adapted into a screenplay. It felt like the subsequent Twilight movies were made before audiences even left the theater after seeing the first film in that saga.

So, what do Dakota's plans (or lack thereof) mean for the franchise? Is one movie all we can expect? Or could this mean Universal will have to find another Anastasia?

While Dakota definitely comes off as an artsy kind of girl, let's face it, money talks. If the studio ponies up enough of a paycheck, surely she'll put hang time with her friends on hold. Plus, there's that whole issue of not wanting to give up on a character you first brought to life. She told Vogue, "I wanted to be involved because it's so different and it's an intense love story."

Then again, it could be a cool twist to see a different pair of actors put their own spin on Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. Stay tuned.

Do you think Dakota Johnson will return to play Anastasia in a second Fifty Shades movie?
