Jamie Dornan Fears He'll Be 'Murdered' at '50 Shades of Grey' Premiere

jamie dornan detailsThere is no doubt about it: Sad to say, but one of the most controversial subjects to have popped up in the last couple of years has been who will play Christian Grey? Whether you're a diehard Matt Bomer, Ian Somerhalder, Charlie Hunnam, or Jamie Dornan fan, if you love the franchise, you most likely had very, very, VERY strong opinions about who should play Christian in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie. And the man who did win out, much to a lot of people's chagrin and consternation, is a tad afraid: Jamie Dornan thinks he'll be murdered by a bunch of "mad fans" at the premiere!

Fans only have a few more weeks to wait until the movie's release on February 13, and Dornan is already concerned about what will happen when it hits theaters. He spoke with Details about what he thinks may befall him:

"I think my publicist said, 'Yeah, mostly good,'" he says about when he got cast. "I'm very aware of opinion regarding the film, whether it be positive or negative. It is, by its nature, an easy target."

But then he went down a darker route: "I almost don't want to put this out there into the ether, but I fear I'll get murdered, like John Lennon, by one of those mad fans at the premiere." The hunky Irish star continued, "Because a lot of people are very angry that I'm playing this character. And I'm a father now, and a husband. I don't want to die yet."

More from The Stir: Jamie Dornan's '50 Shades of Grey' Debut Is Disappointing at Best

Of course, he had to add a little bit of a lighthearted twist, saying, "And when I do get murdered, people will say, 'God, isn't it haunting how he did that interview in Details magazine and predicted his own death on the red carpet?'"

Man, regardless of people's feelings about his role, it's safe to say we all hope that that does not happen. Christian isn't real, people, no matter how much you want him to be.

He also went on to talk about what he enjoyed about the role: "[It had to do with] an attraction and understanding I have for people that are broken in some way ... Not that I'm some broken bird, but there's a massive element of me that's fractured from losing my mother so young, and I'm drawn to characters who are wounded."

Even though he is playing a young man who takes out his frustrations about his upbringing on women by dominating them sexually, sounds like Dornan actually did relate to Grey, at least when it came to their mothers and how losing that relationship affects little boys growing up.

But Dornan also showed off his famous self-deprecating side too. When asked what about Grey he couldn't relate to, he said, "Christian's wild level of achievement and success at such a young age. Christian's power -- I don't really have any."

No doubt, that's going to change quite a bit after the February 13 premiere! But let's hope he and Dakota Johnson, another polarizing choice to play Anastasia Steele, get out of this whole experience mostly unscathed!

Do you think fans may do something extreme when the movie premieres next month?
