'Dumb and Dumber To' Trailer Delivers Exactly What It Promised (VIDEO)

Dumb and Dumber ToAs a freelance writer who frequently covers entertainment topics, I wouldn't exactly say that my job is dangerous. It's true that sitting in front of a computer for hours each day will eventually destroy my body, but it's not like I'm parachuting into raging wildfires. However, I've decided that there are in fact times when the task of writing about Hollywood's latest offerings deserves hazard pay, and today is one of those occasions. Dear readers, I have watched the Dumb and Dumber To trailer.

In a mere 2 minutes and 40 seconds, I experienced increased intracranial pressure. My neurons ceased to function normally and saliva poured unbidden from my slackened mouth. Thankfully the natural plasticity of the human brain means my prognosis is hopeful, but I'm certain permanent damage occurred.

I have included the video here, but I must issue a stern warning: do NOT watch the Dumb and Dumber To trailer if you are operating a vehicle or caring for small children.

It's probably more than a little ridiculous that I was surprised at how stupid this trailer is, given the entire concept of the original movie and now the sequel, but this is quite the impressive achievement. Here's the basic premise: it's been 20 years since Lloyd and Harry set out on their first adventure, and now they're searching for Harry's long-lost daughter. The clip starts out with Harry visiting Lloyd in a mental asylum, where he's been holed up for 20 years as a practical joke, and ... oh, just watch the damn thing:

Sweet Jesus, if this wasn't the much-hyped 20-year reunion reboot of what people have (perhaps mistakenly) come to believe is a comedy classic, we'd be gobsmacked by how insanely terrible it looks. As it is, I guess it gives us precisely what's written on the tin: MOAR DUMB. But is it just me, or is it also devoid of any actual humor? I remember enjoying the first one, but I honestly suffered through this trailer. Although my 8-year-old laughed uproariously at the cat butt joke, so maybe I'm just old and curmudgeonly now.

Dumb and Dumber To hits theaters in November -- what do you think, will you go see it?
