'50 Shades of Grey' Release Date Pushed Back!

Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson 'Fifty Shades of Grey'Fifty Shades of Grey fans have been highly anticipating the upcoming film adaptation for what feels like years now. And I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we'll all have to wait a little longer than expected for the film to hit theaters. Hot on the heels of yesterday's release of the first Fifty Shades cast photos featuring Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, Universal Pictures and Focus Features pushed back the movie's release date.  Originally set to hit theaters August 1, 2014, Fifty Shades of Grey's new release date is February 13, 2015. Yep, you got that right: Valentine's Day weekend.

To be fair, did we really expect that whole Charlie Hunnam escapade not to totally delay filming? Just like in the bedroom, sometimes good things are worth the wait.

Sure -- the release date pushback is a little frustrating. But in some ways I feel like this movie is going to be so big, has been SO anticipated, that fans are going to want to walk into the theater and come out absolutely head-over-heels in love. They want this movie to be WORTH it. Would the flick be awesome if it were made in a rush to make up for all this casting confusion? Maybe, but doubtful.

Plus, of all weekends to come out, I'm pretty sure Fifty Shades is meant to come out on the one dedicated to love. Sure, it's kinky love, but it's love nonetheless. One thing I have no doubts about: Valentine's Day has a whole new meaning to a lot of women for 2014.

Are you bummed that the movie's been pushed back? Do you think it was the right decision?
