Charlie Hunnam Finally Explains Why He Dropped Out of '50 Shades of Grey'

charlie hunnamAt a recent biker charity event in Burbank, Charlie Hunnam broke his silence on why he left Fifty Shades of Grey. Sort of. Let's put it this way: It's the closest we've gotten thus far to an explanation, and it goes beyond the god-awful "scheduling conflicts" excuse.

If what Charlie is saying is true, you guys, it's basically impossible to fault him for dropping out of the film. His reason is something no one can argue with.

At the event, Hunnam said:

I have had some family stuff going on so just trying to stay focused and stay positive and keep trying to do a good job at work and be with my family and stay positive… I am doing good. I am just really concentrating on work. It's been a really busy time… Like I said, I've got some family stuff I have to tend to. So when I wrap the show, I am going to go to England and see my people ...

Family stuff? This is the first we've heard of family stuff. Why didn't he just say family stuff in the first place? No one can argue with family stuff. You don't mess with someone dealing with family stuff. Family stuff is serious shit. Family stuff is totally grounds for dropping out of a movie a month before production. If someone tells you they're doing something, anything because of "family stuff", the only appropriate response is, "Okay, cool."

I think it's really sweet that Charlie is going to England to be with his family, but it is worth mentioning that if he really wanted to be in the film -- and if the studio really wanted him -- they probably would have worked around his family stuff. It's been reported that his father sadly passed away in May, so one can assume the family stuff has to do with that. But I'm kinda thinking there's more to the story than meets the eye. I mean, he is starring in a Guillermo del Toro movie that's currently in pre-production after Sons of Anarchy wraps. Soooo ... yeah.

But say no more, Charlie. It's family stuff. We get it. It's cool.

Why do you think Charlie Hunnam dropped out of Fifty Shades of Grey?
