'50 Shades of Grey' Frontrunner Breaks Her Silence on Starring as Anastasia

alexis bledelEver since the Fifty Shades of Grey fan trailer frenzy first broke out, the actress formerly and best known as Rory Gilmore, Alexis Bledel, has been "cast" as Anastasia Steele. Again and again, she's showed up on YouTube "opposite" the likes of Matt Bomer and Henry Cavill as Christian Grey! it's clear she's quickly become a fan favorite for the role, but she herself has kept mum on the subject of going up for the super-steamy, extremely coveted part. Until now, that is!

At the premiere of her new Hallmark Hall of Fame movie, Remember Sunday, Rory Alexis actually addressed the potential for her involvement in the flick.

When asked by Wetpaint Entertainment if she would consider taking on Ms. Steele, she confessed:

I have no idea. You know, I really don’t know a lot about it except that fans have made a trailer online. I know as much as you know. I’ve seen what you’ve seen, and I’ve probably had a similar reaction to yours!

Well-played, Alexis. Lorelai would be proud.

Now, as you may have been able to infer, I'm a serious Gilmore Girls fan. And maybe that's why I'm not convinced that she's going to be -- or should be! -- Ana. She's too well-known/frequently recognized as Rory and having that association in the back of our heads while watching her as Ana would be weird. What's more, everyone says Alexis is painfully shy. Which may work to her benefit to achieve the innocence and naivety required of the character early on, but whoever is cast is also going to need to be comfortable with nudity and some hot sex scenes!

Then again, come to think of it, she did flirt with sexier scenes when she played Beth opposite now fiance Vincent Kartheiser on Mad Men last season ... Nothing even CLOSE to what we can expect in Fifty Shades. (Yes, even considering how the producers already seem to be sanitizing it before there's even a script!)

Either way, seems like she's not writing off the possibility of playing Ana altogether, so for that alone, her following should be psyched!
