Maggie Gyllenhaal as Ana in '50 Shades of Grey' Movie Is All Sorts of Wrong

Maggie GyllenhaalWell, now that Garrett Hedlund has been mentioned as a new possible Christian Grey in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey movie, I guess it's only fitting for us to bring up an actress whose name hasn't been tossed around as a possible Anastasia Steele quite yet.

Are you ready? Ok, then. Based on a racy new photo shoot for Agent Provocateur where she posed in some seriously sexy lingerie, there is new speculation that Maggie Gyllenhaal may be trying to land a Fifty Shades role -- possibly even Anastasia Steele's part.

Yes, Maggie Gyllenhaal. As in Maggie Gyllenhaal, sister of Jake Gyllenhaal, and mother of two.

And if you're cringing a little bit and shaking your head and thinking, "Oh, hell no, not her" -- you aren't alone. Maggie may be a great actress, but she's all sorts of wrong for Ana's part.

First, let's start with the mom thing. As the parent of a 6-year-old and 9-month-old, somehow I just can't picture her being tied to a bedpost. Go ahead and call me a prude -- I don't care.

And then there's Maggie's age. At 35 years old, she's simply, way, way too old to accurately portray a young, impressionable Ana.

And that brings us to her whole vibe, which is definitely more on the sweet side. She really doesn't strike me as the adventurous or revealing type (other than the Agent Provocateur photos, of course).

I think the general consensus with Maggie will probably be that she's definitely not the right person to play Ana. But what if she were cast as Elena Lincoln, you know, the older woman who introduces Christian Grey to all things BDSM? Nah, she's probably too young for that role. (Girl just can't win.)

Hmm. I'm no casting expert, but at this point I'm willing to bet that Maggie's name will not make an appearance in the credits for Fifty Shades of Grey.

Do you disagree? Is Maggie a good fit for this flick?
