'Hunger Games' Parody Gets Its Star: Welcome 'Kantmiss Evershot'! (VIDEO)

Hunger GamesGreat news, Hunger Games fans! The news is in, and it looks like actress Maiara Walsh has officially been cast as Kantmiss Evershot! You may recognize Maiara from her roles on Desperate Housewives and Switched at Birth, Pretty Little Liars actor Brant Daugherty is cast as Gale, and -- what's that, you say? You have no idea what the hell I'm talking about?

Apparently there's a Hunger Games spoof movie in the works, which has been titled -- I am not making this up -- The Starving Games. The movie is written and directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, the creative masterminds behind several abysmally-rated parody films.

As for whether or not Starving Games will be a hilarious, pitch-perfect parody every fan will secretly love ... well, based on this team's past performances, I'd have to say the odds don't exactly seem to be ever in their favor.

(Look, I'm sorry. I know that was deeply lame, but referencing 'may the odds ...' line is actually required by law whenever someone writes about The Hunger Games. I DIDN'T MAKE THE RULES.)

The so-called spoofmeisters who dreamed up this parody -- and came up with the awesome name of "Kantmiss Evershot" -- are responsible for a number of truly putrid flicks, including the reviled Date Movie:

There's nary a laugh to be found in this relentlessly idiotic parody of popular romantic comedies, which manages the difficult feat of seeming overlong at just 80 minutes. -- Film Journal

Meet the Spartans:

A bizarre, leering orgy of celebrity crotches, lowbrow horny gay buffoons in leather, moronic gladiator mayhem, and too-much-information cascading bodily fluids galore. -- Newsblaze

And the Twilight parody, Vampires Suck:

It's almost fascinatingly awful, nailing the moony tedium of its target franchise with something close to suicidal exactitude. -- Daily Telegraph

Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer are so infamous for their barrel-scraping film techniques, Cracked even made a hilarious chart to help illustrate the process:

In conclusion, I think it's a fairly safe bet to say that The Starving Games is going to be very, very, very bad. I recommend you enjoy this legitimately funny parody video instead:

What's your prediction for The Starving Games? Do you think you'll check it out?
