'The Great Gatsby' Trailer Will Make You Want to Party Like It's 1922 (VIDEO)

Leonardo DiCaprioRemakes and books made into movies aren't typically high on my list of favorite films. The upcoming version of The Great Gatsby directed by Baz Luhrmann, however, is both, but I can't wait to see it -- especially after seeing the trailer that was just released.

In short, it looks AMAZING. Leonardo DiCaprio plays Jay Gatsby; Carey Mulligan plays Daisy Buchanan; and Tobey Maguire is Nick Carraway. The cast alone is incredible, but then you add in the music (Kanye West and Jay-Z and U2 might seem odd choices, but they work), the costumes, and the whole feel of the era, and the book appears to be coming to life -- albeit with a definite twist. See for yourself after the jump.

Where are the parties like that these days? If they exist, I'm not getting my invites. If there was ever a period of time I'd like to revisit, it's certainly the '20s with all of the energy and enthusiasm for life. As Maguire says in the trailer:

New York, 1922. The tempo of the city had changed sharply, the buildings were higher, the parties were bigger, the morals were looser and the liquor was cheaper. The restlessness approached hysteria.

From what we can see, the film has captured that beautifully though perhaps quite differently than you may have imagined it when you read the book in junior high. I'm sure there will be those who see it as an insult to F. Scott Fitzgerald, but from what I can see, I think it will do his story justice. The only problem I foresee is the fact that we have to wait until Christmas for it to come out.

What do you think of the trailer for The Great Gatsby? Are you excited for the movie?
