'My Week With Marilyn' Reviews Deem Michelle Williams Magnetic (VIDEO)

michelle williams my week with marilynMichelle Williams as Marilyn MonroeI swear -- every time I see a poster for My Week With Marilyn, I do a double-take thinking that Michelle Williams is THE Marilyn Monroe reincarnated. The likeness is uncanny, right?! My Week With Marilyn, which opens today, is set during the production of the 1957 film The Prince and the Showgirl and studies the complexities of the woman behind America's most beloved and remembered blonde bombshell.

Directed by Simon Curtis, the film showcases other excellent actors including Eddie Redmayne, Kenneth Branagh, Judi Dench, and Harry Potter's Emma Watson. Read on to see what the critics have to say in their My Week With Marilyn reviews:

Joe Neumaier, New York Daily News:

[Marilyn] is, as portrayed by Michelle Williams, a strange and beautiful alien: Unpredictable, odd, magnetic. She seems to have the power to freeze time and tuck it into a long velvet glove, which is where most of this languorous, lovely movie lives -- right in the palm of her hand.

Peter Travers, Rolling Stone:

It took a toll on Monroe to look effortlessly buoyant on camera. Williams lets us see why. It's a great, soulful performance. Sit back and behold.

Mary Pols, Time Magazine:

Williams locates a central truth, the contradictory allure of this utterly impossible woman -- mercurial, vain, foolish, but also intelligent in some very primal way and achingly vulnerable. You like her, but you wouldn't want to work with/for her.

David Denby, The New Yorker:

The smile isn't as wide, the bust not as large, the waist not as long, and the flesh doesn't have the incredible palpability that drove everyone mad, but, yes, Michelle Williams can play Marilyn Monroe. In My Week with Marilyn, Williams makes the star come alive.

I'm all for catching this after Thursday's turkey binge! If the reviews alone don't sell you, then the dramatic trailer will. Watch the My Week With Marilyn trailer here:
