'Breaking Dawn' Fans Are Ridiculously Awesome

Okay, deep breath. I'm just going to confess real quick: I loved the first three Twilight books but was greatly disappointed by Breaking Dawn. And, um, I thought the first two movies were so terrible I didn't even bother seeing Eclipse.

PLEASE DON'T HURT ME.

I tell you that only to tell you this: I am a big fan of the excitement around Breaking Dawn. I didn't camp out in a tent for the premiere, but man, I totally love that so many people did.

It's pretty easy to poke fun at some of the more extreme Twilight mania, especially during the seemingly endless hype that led up to this latest movie. Now that it's actually released, though, I find that I just feel totally happy for the fans, that they finally get to enjoy something they've been looking forward to for so long.

I particularly enjoy this story of fans traveling from all over the country to see the Breaking Dawn midnight premiere in New York City. One group of friends came from North Dakota, another from Texas. What a fantastic thing, to care so much about a story that you're willing to pack up and travel somewhere just to experience it for the first time together.

As for whether or not the die-hard fans were happy with what they saw, it sounds like the answer is a resounding HELL YES:

I thought it was great. It was the best thing ever. It totally exceeded my expectations.

There's so much bad news in the world today it just seems immensely cheering that people are bonding over this thing they enjoy, and whether or not it's silly doesn't matter. (Who's to say what's silly and what's meaningful, anyway?) Having passion for something and not being afraid to show it is a wonderful thing. Being a fan is awesome, especially when you can share the experience with others.

Never mind Edward, Jacob, or Bella:
TEAM TWILIGHT FANS.

Also, I gotta say, it's hard not to laugh at this lady's reaction (warning: salty language), but I'm pretty sure last night was about a trillion times more exciting for her than it was for me. I mean, I sat around on my ass and watched a TiVo'd Survivor, she went to the premiere and presumably LOST HER MIND WITH JOY.

What do you think of the Breaking Dawn frenzy?
