Good god, there is life after Friday Night Lights. And what I really mean is there will soon be another way to ogle Taylor Kitsch (a.k.a. Tim Riggins) and his hair again on-screen. {Giant exhale} Life is good. More specifically, of course, I'm talking the release of the trailer for John Carter, Kitsch's new film due out in March 2012. It won't be long now, FNL fans. And Taylor the movie looks goooooooood.

Check out the newly released trailer after the jump.

Confused? Well, I guess any of us are who haven't read any of Edgar Rice Burroughs' sci-fi books, including John Carter of Mars, on which the movie is based. However, we can tell you that Kitsch plays a Civil War veteran believed to have died in battle. However, he actually wakes up to find he has been transported to Mars where he meets a pretty lady (ME! just kidding. not me...) and soon must fight the planet's own conflicts. Crazy, huh?

The movie is directed and co-written by Andrew Stanton, who did Wall-E and Finding Nemo, but John Carter looks and feels a little darker and much grittier than either of those films. Love the edgy, somber Arcade Fire song performed by Peter Gabriel on the soundtrack. Really sets this film up to be something special and helps us overlook that it's being put out by Disney.

"Fate has brought you here, John Carter." And boy, am I glad.

Will you go see John Carter next year?
