All the Feelings You Have After Paying Off Your Credit Card (GIFS)

woman paying off credit cardLet's face it: Being in debt sucks. In fact, it really sucks. Unfortunately, debt is a reality that eight in 10 Americans face -- which can make paying off what you owe all the sweeter. How sweet, you ask?

VERY sweet.

Now, I'll admit that I just paid off a small credit card debt (don't tell my husband ... kidding), and while it wasn't anything over the top, it looks like I'm not alone. You see, it's estimated that close to 70 percent of millennials have long-term debts, and more than half are dealing with credit card woes.

Hopefully, if you're facing one of these IOU situations, you too can bask in the pleasures of paying off your debt. And if you're like me, you'll probably find yourself in one of these feels.

1. So incredibly happy. Yes, being in debt is horrible -- and not something you'd like to admit -- but, guess what? It's gone!

2. Joyful, as your credit score keeps going up. Honestly, you've probably seen it rising the more you paid down what you owed (I did), but oh boy, will things get even sweeter with that zero balance.

Go ahead and two-step on that.

3. Excited at the possibility of lower interest rates. Hey, now. You've been working super hard to get yourself in a position to have access to "the good stuff" -- including lower interest rates. Whether you're trying to buy a house or vehicle down the road, your debt-free life should open more doors.

4. Frustration. Sometimes, I think to myself, Why in the hell did I let this debt creep up on me? UGH, to think about the finance charges and interest rates I had to pay just makes me upset.

Dammit, man!

5. Sadness. Yup, the more I think about it, the more I start to get a little sad ... The amount of money I paid to borrow the cash I needed is crazy. I could've used it to pad my savings.

6. Calm. Okay, so you had to face a debt -- who hasn't? Own up to it, learn from it, and move on. Now that you don't have to pay anyone (well, hopefully you don't), enjoy your new reality. I know I am.

Just keep calm and carry on, mama.

7. Wiser. Sometimes you have to go through the fire in order to come out a new woman. Now that you know what it feels like to carry unnecessary debt, hopefully you'll make savvier decisions.

Message, received.
