Queen Elizabeth Gave Prince William & Kate Middleton the Best Wedding 'Gift' Ever

royal wedding kiss on balconyBe honest: Whenever you think of Queen Elizabeth, you don't think of a warm and fuzzy ol' granny. That woman is a monarch. She means business. But, you know, to Prince William, she is HRH Grandma. And having a grandmother with that much power has its perks! Especially when it comes to a wedding, which -- even when it's not a royal one -- can get so out of hand super fast.

In a new ITV1 documentary about Queen Elizabeth that airs next month, Wills opens up about how when he first started planning his wedding to Kate Middleton, he was handed the original royal wedding guest list (by whom is not clear) with 777 names on it ... and apparently, "not one person I knew or Catherine knew." How horrific! And we thought the royal wedding was all fun and games. Ha!

So how did Wills cope?

Hating on Rush Limbaugh Makes Us Just As Bad As Him

rush limbaughNo question about it -- Rush Limbaugh is going down in a big way. As of my last count, he'd lost 13 sponsors and two radio stations have dropped his show. And the list keeps growing.

But I'm starting to feel like Rush-hunting is becoming a blood sport. We're getting off on watching the man burn. I have no sympathy for him. He dug his own grave. But we're not exactly elevating ourselves by dancing around that grave. I should know -- I've felt myself swept up in the Rush-burning rush and I didn't like what it did to me.

Kate Middleton's Valentine's Day Plans Will Make Her Marriage Even Stronger

Posted by Maressa Brown
on Feb 2, 2012 at 3:16 PM

kate middletonEven though most of us think of Valentine's Day as nothing more really than a Hallmark holiday, there's still plenty of silly taboo around being alone on the holiday -- especially if you're a newlywed. But that's not the case for Kate Middleton. Prince William has been deployed to the Falkland Islands for a six-week military mission, so the Duchess won't be enjoying the holiday by having a romantic candlelit dinner or chowing down on chocolates with her husband.

Instead, it looks like she's got her work cut out for her. No, really. And it actually sounds like her hubby-free Valentine's Day will be a blessing in disguise ...

2011's Most Outrageous, Lavish & Romantic Weddings

Posted by Sasha Brown-Worsham
on Dec 27, 2011 at 10:44 AM

2011 may go down as the year of the wedding. Between Kate Middleton and Prince William, Kim Kardashian and Nick Lachey, it was a year of love and wedded "bliss" (at least until all the cake is eaten).

In a year so rife with wedding bells, it is hard to pick just five, but there were five big standouts in the crows.

Here are the five biggest weddings of 2011:

JR Martinez

Celebrities announce pregnancies every other day and it's always joyous news, except when it happens to someone truly inspirational and deserving like JR Martinez, the former Iraqi vet turned DWTS champion. When impending parenthood happens to people like that you don't simply offer congratulations, you dance on the tables screaming YAYYYY!!! Martinez and his girlfriend Diana Gonzalez-Jones are expecting their first child next spring, and the couple are high as a kite over the news. But judging from all the Tweets and comments going around the web, I think his fans might be even more excited than they couple is ... if that's even possible!

5 Ways to Fancy Up Boring Glass Ornaments

Posted by Gabrielle Blair
on Dec 8, 2011 at 2:56 PM

It's so hard for me to commit to one style of Christmas decor because I know the next year, there will be something new that catches my eye. That's probably why our ornament collection is a random mix, from traditional to eclectic. Instead of fully investing in one style, I like the idea of buying inexpensive clear glass bulbs and customizing them to your mood.

Feeling glam? Try these pretty gold ones made by Jennie by using washi tape and tinsel. See four more perfectly festive ideas below.

Pippa Middleton's Book Deal Sounds Like a Royal Pain

Posted by Lindsay Mannering
on Nov 7, 2011 at 3:25 PM

pippa middletonPippa Middleton's butt is in trouble. Don't worry, not her actual buttocks, but you know figuratively speaking, Pippa's ass is on the line. After word got around that the world's most famous little sister (take that Ashlee, Ali, and Solange) was getting $1.5 million to pen a book about party planning and etiquette, people were kind of pissed off. The Telegraph reports that Pips' been in talks with publishers for a while now and that things are getting serious.

The "Pippa factor" may have sold a few handbags and launched a few fan blogs, but this party planning book may be the one thing that could burst that bubble.

Memo to Pippa Middleton: A Bigger Ring Will Not Make You a Princess

Posted by Sasha Brown-Worsham
on Oct 27, 2011 at 2:08 PM

The British tabloid The Daily Mail is reporting that Pippa Middleton's on-again, off-again boyfriend Alex Loudon is shopping for engagement rings and that whatever he gets, he has to be sure it's bigger than Kate Middleton's. If this is true (and I take everything I read there with a grain of salt), then she could use a lesson in sisterly love, stat.

Competition is one thing. It can be good to foster and even encourage in women and girls who are often demure about their abilities. But there is a huge difference between being slightly competitive and being overly obnoxious and wanting a bigger rock just to show up your sister. It crosses that line.

Even beyond Pippa and Kate (who received a gorgeous sapphire ring that belonged to Will's mother, Princess Diana), all women need to recognize that a big diamond isn't all that exciting.

Brides Are Right to Avoid Kate Middleton's Wedding Dress

Posted by Emily Abbate
on Oct 18, 2011 at 5:51 PM

kate middleton wedding dressThe anticipation of the royal wedding here the U.S. was BANANAS. On the big day, Kate Middleton and Prince William's nuptials drew in the largest audience for the Today show since President Obama was elected in 2008, for Pete's sake. Sure, we were all excited to see how handsome Wills looked and how lavish the royal shindig was. But the real story: the dress.

When the Duchess stepped out of her carriage and revealed her long-sleeved Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding gown, jaws dropped and the media went carazay.

Of course, she looked stunning. The dress is an absolute dream with lace sleeves, a beautifully cut, delicate neckline ... plus her waist looked smaller than my pint-sized 4-year-old neighbor's torso. But to be honest, I would never wear a dress like Kate's on my wedding day. And it seems that despite all the gown hoopla, a lot of other women feel the same way.
