7 Really Bad Reasons to Rush Into Marriage (PHOTOS)

Shotgun WeddingPeople get married every day, and some of them even for a good reason! Of course most everyone gets married because they fall in love and want to spend the rest of their lives with each other.

Awww! So sweet. When it works out, that is. But choosing a life partner is a big effing deal, and should be treated with care. When people race to the alter before seeing if they're compatible for more than a few months together, they're taking a very risky gamble.

Lots of people rush that trip down the aisle in the early stages of relationship love-haze, thinking that they have a really good reason not to wait.

If you find yourself using one of these excuses in your haste to get married as soon as possible, do yourself a favor and wait it out a bit. After all, if you're meant to spend the rest of your lives together, what's a few more months before the wedding date in the grand scheme of things?

Do you think it's ever a good idea to rush into marriage?

#5, um, wow...sounds like the person who wrote this has never wanted children AND isn't living in the same reality as all those aging women who can't conceive.

Any reason for rushing is a bad one.

Another article from Jenny Erikson about getting divorced. *sigh*

Number 5 makes me cringe!  Yes, SOME women with good disposable incomes to spend on fertility treatment can get pregnant later than before, and SOME couples are good candidates for adoption, if they can afford it and have no skeletons in the closet that would make it unlikely.  This isn't true for everyone.  Which is not to say you should marry a jerk because your biological clock is ticking, but does make it a valid concern for many women.

Agreed with the above, number 5 made me a lil upset. I want kids of my own. Fertility treatments are expensive as hell. not saying that it's a good reason to rush into marriage, but I always hate when people say, well there's always adoption! As I said before I want to have the experience if having a child if my own body. Nothing against adoption of course, but it's my personal desire.

Why would any sentient creature take marriage advice from frivorcée Jenny Erikson?

Okay Jenny, we get it. You married too young and made a bad choice. You've given us your advice and we appreciate it. Now move on. You're boring us.

Correction - she became a bad choice.
