Top 20 Romantic Cities in the U.S.: Did Yours Make the Cut?

Emily Abbate This Just In

America's most romantic citiesI don't know about all of you, but when it comes to choosing the perfect city to live in -- I'm usually lookin' for a few credentials. You know, cost of living, availability of jobs, the social scene -- that sort of stuff. If you're a lady lookin' for love, though, you may want to take a look at the new list of America's most romantic cities, put together by Amazon.com.

So how does Amazon determine a city's romance levels? Well, the website looked at cities with more than 100,000 residents and then compiled data on the sales of sexual wellness products and romantic products, including romantic comedy movies, romance music, and romantic novels (Fifty Shades of Grey, anyone?).

Go on, take a look at the top 20 most romantic cities in the United States. Just you wait, #1 is a shocker:

  1. San Antonio
  2. Seattle
  3. Knoxville, Tenn.
  4. Miami
  5. Alexandria, Va.
  6. Orlando, Fla.
  7. Vancouver, Wash.
  8. Cincinnati
  9. Spokane, Wash.
  10. Dayton, Ohio
  11. Columbia, S.C.
  12. San Jose, Calif.
  13. Murfreesboro, Tenn.
  14. Round Rock, Texas
  15. Sioux Falls, S.D.
  16. Las Vegas
  17. Pittsburgh
  18. Everett, Wash.
  19. Erie, Pa.
  20. Clearwater, Fla.

San Antonio!?! Most romantic?! And I can't even believe that New York City didn't make the list. Clearly, the people at Amazon.com have never sipped cocktails atop The Standard hotel listening to jazz music overlooking the Hudson River at sunset. How's THAT for romantic?

Granted -- setting can definitely amp up things in the romance department, but as long as you and your partner have the right chemistry, then that is what really matters. Well, that, and a few glasses of bubbly to go with that spark never hurt nobody.

Did your city make the list?
