Is Your Spouse Cheating? Here’s the 1 Thing You Need to Find Out

Love & Learn 13

When it comes to sussing out whether your partner is cheating, there are all sorts of methods. Breaking into emails. GPS devices. Private investigators. But, hey, did you know that there's apparently something a LOT more simple that could unequivocally let you know if your honey is stepping out on you? Dang, why didn't I think of this before? It makes so much sense. A study has concluded that people's voices change depending on who they're talking to. So your voice is totally different when you're talking to your spouse versus your children or your boss. Or your luvah. Yeah, people have a "cheating voice."

The Albright College study concluded that people's tones are more "sexy," "pleasant," and "reflecting greater romantic interest" when chatting with a luvah than when they're speaking to their friends or family. I mean, duh, right?! And men speak in a higher pitch when talking to women. Women apparently lower their pitch when talking to men. Said head study researcher Susan Hughes:

It’s not just that we change the sound of our voice, but that others can easily perceive those changes.

Researchers also concluded that people spoke differently to those with whom they were romantically involved, and that those modulations in the voice could be used to detect when someone was talking to a person they were cheating with.

Additionally, those who were involved with new lovers had tones that reflected "stress, nervousness, and lack of confidence" -- possibly for fear of being rejected.

So there you have it. If your husband is on the phone with someone and sounds sexy, pleasant, stressed, and nervous -- he's cheating! Or, you know, not. Make sure you get some concrete evidence before accusing your spouse of anything.

I read a book awhile ago about a woman who found out her husband was having an affair with a woman he was working with -- because the tone of her voice on their voicemail, even though she was discussing work, was so flirty.

The problem is, who the hell talks on the phone anymore?! And shared answering machine messages have also gone by the wayside.

So good luck hearing your partner actually talking to his or her lover. Maybe buy him a rotary phone for his birthday? Or hand him a script and ask him to read it out to every single female he knows?

Or just break into his email like normal people!

Have you ever caught anyone cheating by the sound of their voice?

cheating, love, lying

I kinda did with my ex, though it was mostly his actions.  He mainly pulled away emotionally and tried to put all the blame on me, saying things like "well, that's your problem, not mine".

Really? Something else could be wrong like stress from work, having financial issue, you and your spouse have been arguing a lot. This is so dumb, a lot of things can make ones voic change. Oh and why are the articles written about cheating alway about the man doing it? Women cheat to you know! The only tried and true way to know is if you get solid evidence. Anyone who accuse their husband based on this information alone is an idiot!!

I don't put much stock into things like these. I tend to just trust him openly and not even worry about things like cheating. It's not worth my time to worry, anyway. If it comes out someday down the road that he's been unfaithful, then that will be his loss because I don't/won't tolerate it. But, I'm never gonna just sit and worry myself over it and try to look for fluctuations in his phone conversation voice. LOL. It's loony.

I have phone anxiety, so I'm sure my voice chances on the phone...a lot.  I can see how this could be true if it was out of the range of the spouse's normal behavior.

I do know when my husband is talking to a female or a male on the phone. He carries his voice in a certain way. Vocals are a way to attract a mate as well. It has been proven that a male is attracted to a female voice that is ovulating.

There was a study done when with males and they had to listen to female voices and mark whcih one they where more attracted to. It turned out that they all mostly marked the same was the voice of a female ovulating....the funny thing is that they where listening to the same female not ovulating and did not mark it.

And now all the cheaters reading this will know to alter their voice the other direction to compensate so their mate won't get wise.  LOL

I caught my husband just a few months after being married talking on the phone in the bathroom to another woman that he just started working with. Didn't sound to me like family. Then I heard him say something about "why do you have to look at me that way at work baby?" I confronted him about it as soon as he walked out of the bathroom. He told me he was talking to his mom but i knew better. I told him to drop her or I'd divorce him and go take care of the home wrecker. Its people that cheat on their better half that make me angry. Grow up!

Or...we could try this new fangled thing called C O M M U N I C A T I O N. I find that an open, honest conversation does wonders. I trust my husband. He knows that if he were to ever cheat on me, I would divorce him. Our relationship is built on trust - not love. Love has never gotten neither one of us anywhere, but trust is the foundation of our marriage.

Well I do know when my man is lying bc his voice gets higher by like 8 octaves lol. He lies about silly things like taking out the trash or cleaning his mess up. If he was cheating, I could probably tell by his voice. But thankfully, I trust him 110% and I know he's completely happy at home : )
