Couple Whose Wedding Picture Went Viral Is Proof Beauty Isn't Just Skin Deep (PHOTO)

Awww! 52

Every love story has a certain degree of “awww” factor, but this one stands out for a few different reasons. When Brandon Wylie posted his wedding day photo on Facebook to commemorate six happy years of marriage with his better half, Nicole, he was just a guy making a sweet gesture to celebrate his anniversary. (Good man, Brandon.)

Much to both of their surprise, the pic got more than 100 likes. Then 300. Then 500. “By the time we got home that evening, we literally had about 700 likes,” he told Black and Married With Kids. "I said ‘what is going on?’ She doesn’t know 700 people!" Six hours after he shared it, the photo he’s been posting every year since they got hitched had garnered about 3,000 likes.

It’s gone viral and has generated buzz because Nicole has vitiligo. In her, folks have been reminded that love is available to everyone.

She’s gorgeous no matter how you slice it, but it’s nice to be reminded that you don’t have to look like every cookie-cutter Hollywood glamazon in order for love to land at your doorstep and come on in to stay.

“My story was basically just because you’re different doesn’t mean you can’t have a happily ever after. I hope and pray my confidence shines through my three little girls,” Nicole said. “Yes, they know mommy looks different but mommy held her head high and she walked tall and beautiful. So, I hope that it reflects on them as well.”

Wonderful sentiment indeed. But pause: can we talk about how incredibly adorable this trio of little girl marvelousness is? Could they be any more precious?

Newly inspired young women with vitiligo have reached out to Nicole since the Photo Seen Around the World became a shareable sensation. Some felt like they were assigned to a life of perpetual singlehood because of their skin condition, but in seeing her and reading her story, they have renewed belief that they can look forward to falling in love, being loved back, and getting married, too.

It’s awesome when you help and encourage other people just by being you.

Heather- it's a nice story for once. All the writers here are usually so freaking negative and judgemental. Although I do think they tend to be playing to the race issues too much lately. All the stories about non whites are positive and the ones about whites are written with an obvious bias.

I have always thought people with vitiligo are absolutely stunning. We have a few people on both sides of the family with it, so there is a real chance our children will have it. So far no one is affected, but if anyone is I will make sure they know how beautiful they are!!! Too many people hide such amazing natural beauty

Wow, Heather, really? Someone should slap you for that statement. It has nothing to do with the fact that they're black. It has everything to do with the fact that our culture is so focused on 'beauty' and how we've been taught to view people based on appearances, and how this woman inspired people to break from that mindset. It's about people looking past a condition, a "flaw".

Geez, it has nothing to do with them being black. It has to do with being beautiful and confident in herself even though the vitiligo makes her look different. It's about a husband being proud and loving his wife. I can't believe some of the ignorant comments about their race on here. It's disgusting that there are people who can't read a sweet story without turning it in to race hate. Ugh!

I personally find vitiligo to be beautiful, and this woman is stunning.

This has nothing to do with them being black, it's about a a beautiful woman who has a skin condition that some might find "weird" or "ugly". It's about people being able to see past that. It's a nice, positive story. Why is that bad?

By the way, I'm white, just in case that makes any difference to you Heather.

How does a story about acceptance & true beauty become "More pandering to blacks"?  This story had nothing to do with race, but there are always a few people out there who turn things into race no matter what. I agree that a lot of stories are turned into a "black/white thing" but it's obviously blatantly racist people like Heather B who do that. Racism, judgment & plain hatred are UGLY, this article & the couple, the woman with vitiligo are not.

My 2 sons (6 & 8) both have vitiligo - and they are proud of their "spots". I'm sure as they get older people will comment more - but right now, it's not even a tiny issue in their lives. There's more to a person than how they look!

My husband has vitiligo and our wedding pictures are beyond beautiful.  I can't imagine him ever thinking he couldn't have our happily ever after because of a skin problem, that thought breaks my heart.  Our kids think he's their hero, their best man, and their piece of perfection.  He's a fireman and constantly gets asked if he was burned in a fire.  He's had vitiligo since he was about 13 and it's as obvious at this bride since he's hispanic.  Honestly, I wouldn't want him any other way.  In my eyes, he's absolutely perfect, and smoking hot to boot.  He needs no adjusting.  God delivers the package, it's our job to open it up and see what's inside, that's when you realize what a gift you have.
