'Bachelorette' Emily Maynard Got Stuck With Some Gossip Loving In-Laws

Bachelorette Emily Maynard may or may not have cheated on winner Jef Holm. It all depends on who you believe. The beautiful single mom defended herself to People Magazine against all the rumors claiming she was caught sexting someone else while vacationing with her in-laws.

Her defense is compelling -- essentially she says she is not the kind of girl who sexts and she loves Jef -- but the person accusing her is pretty damning. It's her own brother-in-law! For his part, Jef says he is disappointed with his brother for "lying," but one has to question why his brother would do such a thing. What's in it for him? The answer: nothing. This is why if I were a betting person, I would guess some version of it is the truth.

As for Emily, I feel for her. Truth or not, she has a whole lot of mess to deal with now with her in-laws.

The fact is, when you marry a person, you don't just marry them. You also marry their mom and dad and brothers and sisters. For some, this is welcome, but most of us fall somewhere in between the nightmare scenario -- you hate them all -- and the other one -- you suffer through family get togethers, but don't hate them.

Spending time with anyone's family over long periods of time can be weird and uncomfortable and awkward, but when those people betray you? Hello lack of trust EVER AGAIN.

I am still reeling from a certain someone's incredibly cold reaction to the news that my husband and I were engaged. No matter how many years we are married (going on 10), I won't ever forgive that person or count them in my close confidants. That's how devastating these in-law things can be. So watch out, Jef's brother Mike! Your sister-in-law may hate you know.

Either way it is a dick move. If it's true, it was not Mike's story to share. If it's a lie, well then he is just a psycho with no excuse for his behavior.

If Jef and Emily make up, she will never trust her brother-in-law or feel close to him. That is an unfortunate situation and one he could have avoided by keeping his mouth shut.

it's over. His brother is telling the truth. Jef is playing the part. Emily sent her topless picture to one football player. She never intended to marry anyone from the show. She has always been going after famous athletes; unfortunately they treated her like someone to hook up with not someone they want to marry. Usually contestants got back to their ex boyfriends who had not been able to commit to them when they returned from the show. The show gave them some "stardom of having been on TV". Emily was hoping the high profile guy she wanted to be with would consider being with her after seeing how "classy, adorable, desirable" she was on the show. However, the high profile millionaire would never take her seriously because of, dare i say, too much baggage. Those types of guys have access to the most beautiful, eligible, talented, single woman in the entertainment industry. Why would they want Emily, a vapid, high maintenance high school graduate with no goal, hobbies, no substance. Jef is now stuck. They are both miserable. Jef was caught up in the fantasy of a reality show, Now he wins, he is like "what's next? what the eff was I thinking" but has to play along to be honorable. His sisters told their friends about their fight even before it was leaked out to US weekly. They all said Emily is not who she was portrayed on TV.

Do you all follow Emily and Jef on twitter or instagram? If you did, you would see that they are enjoying being a loving family. In just the last week, Jef's parents visited and brought Ricki adorable cookie cooking supplies and Emily gave Jef's mom makeup, Jef helped take off Ricki's training wheels and taught her to ride a bike, and last night Emily and Jef attended Ricki's parents night at her school. They have been together non-stop for weeks. They have been seen by countless people out and about, happier than ever. If they are putting up a front then they are a) the best actors in the planet and deserve to be nominated for an oscar and b) are the cruelest people on the planet for involving a young child in a farce. It's not possible. Also, those who follow them on social media know that Jef's family has been supportive of Jef and Emily and they are working things out with Mike Holm privately, as they should.
