Not long ago, I read a story about some reality star who said they would kick a guy to the curb if he couldn't sing. It's a total deal-breaker as far as she is concerned. Now, I am all for having standards of some kind. Your man should be what you need and want him to be -- within reason.
Some requirements just seem utterly ridiculous. I'm not talking about wanting a guy with ambition, family values, a job, teeth. Some things are non-negotiable. Some things, however, shouldn't even be an issue at all. I know someone who won't date anyone who eats mayonnaise. Just the thought of it makes her nauseous. It's crazy to me. I just don't see why a condiment would keep you from a potentially great guy. She's not alone, though. After a completely unscientific poll, I've learned lots of women have wacky rules for prospective mates.

I understand the first one, because obviously he isn't willing to go with her to see something she likes for once, but she's always having to watch what he likes.
I have never even gone on a date with a man who wears sports apparel.
Sports nuts and dog nuts. I have dated men who like sports and found out it wasn't going to work for me. I have never dated a dog owner. And agree with the4mutts- a non-reader is a no go. A non-reading, sports nut dog owner would be my nightmare. Though I'm sure there are probably some perfectly nice non-reading, sports nut dog owners out there.
Men who can't cook themselves something to eat, but expect you to do it for them. Men who watch too much TV (I don't have a TV, case closed). Men who eat in bed. Men who aren't nice to their mother. I would never expect a guy to want to watch romance movies with me, because they don't think that way, plus I like going to the movies by myself. However, if he wanted me to go to movies of a genre that I didn't enjoy, I would consider him a control freak. I agreee with the 4mutts & cmjaz.--they have to read, at least some of the time!
