Kim Kardashian may be a head-in-the-clouds egomaniac, but her sis Khloe Kardashian has always come off as rational, sweet, and chill. Her latest remarks to hit the web don't exactly undermine that rep, but they're certainly more irritating than inspirational.
When Celebuzz asked Khloe about Fifty Shades of Grey last week, she admitted she hadn't, which is cool. It's not for everyone. But then she went on to say, "What everyone tells me is that if you're missing out on a sex life, if you read the book, it makes you want to have a sex life. And I have a phenomenal sex life, so I'm not dying to read written porn. I would rather watch porn than read a different version of porn. But, I don't know what it's about." Oh, Khloe, Khloe, Khloe! Way to put your foot in your mouth!
For anyone out there like Khloe who have a very misinformed idea of what Fifty Shades and its ilk is -- that it is "mommy porn"/Twilight fan fiction for undersexed housewives -- let's get one thing straight, shall we? There are plenty of women, of all ages, who have "phenomenal sex lives" who are enjoying Fifty Shades or other erotic literature. "Reading written porn" isn't just for singles, geeks, or losers who are missing out on a sex life. And as much as I adore that Fifty Shades does seem to have sparked something in people who were struggling to reclaim (or even initially claim!) their horny inner goddess, erotica is not just for or being appreciated by women whose libido is MIA.

In fact, it sounds like Khloe doesn't know what she's missing out on! Your sex life should always be evolving to keep your relationship afloat. And tapping into your imagination by reading a steamy book is one brilliant way to do that. If she shut off all that porn she'd rather be watching long enough to enjoy some silent sustained sexy reading, who knows what kind of ideas Khloe could come up with for turning up the heat with Lamar? Erotica could inspire her to try things that would help her take her sex life to a whole new level.
Oh well, to each Kardashian their own! And really, who am I to expect any of them to pick up a book -- even if it is Fifty Shades of Grey?
Do you agree that women Fifty Shades or other erotica isn't just for women who are "missing out on a sex life"?

Never thought the day would come where I would agree with a Kardashian. And gotta go with previous posters there are days this feels like a 50 Shades fan site, and heaven help you if you don't LOVE the books. Sorry the books are mediocre at best, there is far better erotica out there to spend time with.
Actually, I'm in a great and fulfilling sexual relationship and I just read book one. I got the second today and what made me read it was Everyone talking about it. It was interesting, but then I have an SBDM background. (no longer in that lifestyle) It didn't do anything for me but bring back fond memories. I am with a guy who doesn't mind experimenting.
I am more amazed at the women who want their partner to be Christian Grey. A needy, angry, control freak does not sound like ideal partner material.
I agree. I have a horrible sex life and i like it lol
I couldn't care less. I have the books & will read, when i HAVE THE TIME. I'm an avid reader, & no body's business, what I read. It's still a free country, isn't it? Sometimes I do wonder.
I don't agree. I like a good book, period. If it has hot sex scene's fine but I need a believable story line and character's to go with it. I am a little sad for the women that say this book has made their sex life better, but at the same time better to have a great sex later than never, even if it is thanks to a book. I just finished the series and I personally hated it. There was one sex scene involving a tampon that I think traumatized me (hello gross) and I couldn't get over the fact it was written by an English woman that thinks we talk like English people here in the Northwest. For the record I have never said something was keen and I've never heard anyone else say it. That was so distracting I had to force myself to finish it so I could discuss it with the girl that loaned me the books. I think its great woman like these books but just because you read erotica doesn't mean you need help with your love life.
Meg Moore: "this isnt 50 shades fansite...although it feels that way sometimes."
