It's a sad day for two reasons. One, Zack Morris is off the market, and two, we're all officially old. Mark-Paul Gosselaar got married on Saturday to his advertising exec girlfriend Catriona McGinn, crushing our dreams of a Zack and Kelly wedding, and making us realize that Saved by the Bell was on 20 years ago. I didn't know I was old enough to say that I did something 20 years ago, but yup, I can, and I'm clearly now minutes from the grave. Thanks, Mark-Paul.
Ageist self-loathing aside, I'm glad Zack found love again. His 14-year marriage to actress Lisa Russell ended in 2010 among rumors that she cheated, so it's great to see that he has made a full recovery and was able to take the plunge yet again ... even if it's not with Kelly Kapowski, or us.
Mark-Paul has two children with Lisa, and reportedly, they were really involved in his wedding to Catriona. Mark-Paul proposed to Catriona last October with a 5-carat Neil Lane ring, and the two were married in Sunstone Winery in Santa Ynez, California. They're heading off to Italy for the honeymoon and are reportedly going to eat their faces off.
I didn't see a guest list printed anywhere, but I sure hope Lisa Turtle and her new face, Jessie Spano, A.C. Slater, Screech, and Mr. Belding were on hand to toast the newlyweds. Wouldn't want Kelly to have been there unless she wore a pink trench coat and blond wig -- seeing her would be too emotional for M.P. No word whether or not Zack Attack played the reception, but one can only hope.
Oh here's a thought. Wonder if Mario Lopez is going to cover Mark-Paul's nuptials on Extra. That feel as awkward to you as it does to me?
Everyone raise the milkshake they just got from the Max and cheers to a happy ever after for Zack and his new bride. But if things shouldn't work out, I mean I hope they do, but if they don't, I hear Miss Bliss isn't tied down.
Thoughts on Zack's wedding?
