Everyone is analyzing to death the Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise split, when really, there isn't much to analyze. Look for all the clues, signs and reasons you want. Truthfully, their marriage wasn't much different than any of the other numerous Hollywood marriages that crumble after a few years. She was a young and impressionable up-and-comer courted by a big-time movie star who happened to be a religious wackadoo. That's the story, folks. Katie is 33, a mom, and she wised up before it was too late.
But she was not the only one. Everyone is talking about how interesting it is that all of Cruise's ex-wifes left the marriage at the same exact age: 33. And that, it seems, is a bona fide trend, people. But what does it mean, exactly?
It could be coincidence or it could mean that the 30s for a woman is a time of maturity, when you've lived and experienced and suffered enough to have your shit together. It's an age when you are more able to recognize you've made a mistake and when it's time to get out before it's too late. As it was for ...
Mimi Rogers. She and Cruise met in the early 80s and eventually married. It was Rogers who introduced and brought Cruise into the Scientology cult religion, so at least we know it was other reasons that led them to stray from each other. They divorced after three years.
Nicole Kidman. She and Cruise met on the set of Days of Thunder. They adopted several children and lasted over 10 years.
Both former ex-wives are currently remarried with children and seemingly happy, so we can only hope the same will follow eventually for Katie.
Have you ever been divorced? What age did you split up?

Since when is 27 young and impressionable?
Misty Dawn.....YOu know what I would EVEN give a pass to OTHER famous people. Johnny Depp and his ex fir example! They LIVED in private. So when they ask for privacy I get it! AND respect it!
I agree with the commenter that said their lives are 100% public so this is what happens. The American celebrity system is based on the public knowing their every move (unlike, for example, the British one where actors can live in relative anonymity if they so choose - not a judgement call, just a fact). The more your photo is taken clutching a Starbucks cup, the more famous you are!
And to the person who said Suri's losing her family stability I say - what stability?!?!? I'll lay money on the bet that her life has been anything but stable. I frikkin' hope her world as she knows it will never be the same - she can go to regular school and have friends, she will be in bed at 9 and not getting ice cream at 11 pm being followed by paparazzi, she won't go to cult meetings, her parents can tell her what to do for her own good (Scientology thinsk children are little adults) and the list goes on.
In a perfect world, Katie will get full custody, remove herself and her child from the spotlight and go and live in small town Iowa. Suri will go to normal school. Katie will quit acting for a while. Suri's ridiculous wardrobe will be donated to charity and she will learn how to climb trees and hang out with friends eating popsicles on a summer's day. She will have a bedtime. She'll change her name to Suzie. 25 years from now she will write an autobiography telling everyone how her father was insane and her mother saved her life.
the author of this is dumb Tom & Nicole weren't married 10 years when he filed for divorce he filed right before their 10th anniversary but the divorce wasn't finalized for about a year because of wrangling over their adopted children Isabella & Connor who were minors at the time like Suri is now. some people just aren't meant to be married Tom bats for both teams and this makes that pretty obvious
never divorced just widowed
Thanks, showfan, I forgot about them. :)
