Scientology Drove Katie Away & We Are Surprised It Took This Long (VIDEO)

by Kiri Blakeley on June 30, 2012 at 9:00 AM

We're beginning to hear more about why Katie Holmes has filed from divorce from Tom Cruise and it's because of his -- hair! Bwaha. Of course not. No, he was having an affair -- with a woman! Bwahah. Double of course not. It's because of his devotion to Scientology. His fierce, unwavering, unnerving, and downright scary as all hell devotion to Scientology. Supposedly. Did you really think it was going to be anything else? B.O.? No, KSW! (That's "Keep Scientology Working," for the uninitiated and, yeah, I had to look it up.)

Apparently Katie began to worry for the future of little Suri, who would no doubt be brought up in the Scientology faith. Word has it she is now at the age (she's six) when Scientology would take over her brain begin to become important to her. And Katie wasn't so down with that. But why not? I mean, could it somehow have escaped Katie's notice that Tom was a Scientoloholic?

Tom has been one of the most -- if not the most -- famous advocates for Scientology in the world. Long before he met Katie. Why would she suddenly have a problem with its teachings? Could it be that Tom's big movie star status, his wealth, his power in the industry, and his high-paying contract good looks won her over in the beginning but started to look terrifying less appealing as time wore on?

We all know women who had major red flags about guys and went ahead and got involved with them anyway. At first, the flags weren't that big, and they added a little spice to things. But years later, those little flags became ENORMOUS PLANET-SIZED FLAGS.

Also, a child can change your priorities. Maybe Katie thought she'd be fine with raising a kid under Scientology, but when she had Suri, she began to change her mind about it. Maybe motherhood became more important than alienhood.

If you watch the video below of Tom raving on (and on ...) about Scientology (and KSW's and SP's and Orgs and a whole lotta wackadoodle stuff) you'll wonder what Katie saw in this guy. And how she lasted so long.

What do you think about Scientology?

He is so intense here. Frankly I'd be scared to say no I won't raise your child in this religion. No wonder she went behind his back and filed!

The bad thing is if this is true about Katie wanting to protect her daughter from the religion, she just made it easier for Tom to have tons of influence in that way. She just gave up 50% of her rights and Tom is just crazy enough he will take his 50% and soak the kid in Scientology.

I believe that people should follow whatever faith fullfils them and makes them happy. That being said, I feel like 6 years old is WAY too young for a person to be introduced to any certain faith. I know that's probably not the most PC thing to say, but religion is a HUGE subject and one that shouldnt be forced down anyone's throat, much less a child. Let Suri get some years on her and let HER decide whether or not she wants to follow in her Dad's path.

Has it occurred to anyone that maybe, just maybe she loved him? How many people marry someone thinking they'll change? Whether it's watching football every Sunday or an addiction to purses? Whether we're a movie star or not, people still love each other.

Personally, I think Scientology is weird just because it's so secretive.

Kiri, this would have been an excellent post had you not used the cross outs, bold, capitalizing and parentheses. It makes it look so much cheaper and so sarcastic like you know it all. You didn't need it and it actually made it harder to make sense of while reading. Otherwise I'd have given it an A+.

She filed for full custody in NY and I'd granted would have 100% say over what happens with Suri. NY doesn't do 50/50 if parents don't get along enough to agree about parenting.

no jafe, i dont think it occured to anyone that she really loved him. i know the majority of people dont think so and im with them. it all seemed too perfect, it happened in the blink of an eye and it all seemed slightly off. so did his marriage to nicole kidman.

it took this long because she had to escape. She had the cult following her with "minders" to make sure she towed the line. hopefully she gets on the tube and tells everyone what they already know. Tom is nuts, the cult kills people and takes their money.
