But nothing, and I do mean nothing, was quite as terrifying as performing a Burlesque routine on stage. Check it out ... after the jump.

You might think I'm completely crazy to take this dare, but I have to tell you that after seeing a few burlesque shows here in Nashville, I'm a huge fan.

If you've never been to a burlesque show, it's a surprisingly empowering experience. The audience is typically at least half female (if not more) and the women who take the stage are all shapes and sizes. Here in Nashville, half of the local burlesque troupe are moms!

There's something really positive about seeing women with all different body types having fun and feeling confident and sexy on stage, and the audience is always warm and supportive. Also? The dancers don't actually get naked- so while I wouldn't take my Bible Study group to a burlesque show, the more modest among you won't feel like you got a little too much information about the performers, if you know what I mean.

Delinquent Debutantes here in Nashville offers classes in the art of Burlesque and they've taught everyone from college-age girls up to grandmas how to shimmy and twirl those tassels. I'd highly encourage you to look into classes in your area if you feel like you've lost your sexy side. This will help you get it back, in a fun and non-threatening way.

No, I probably won't be performing Burlesque in public EVER AGAIN- but I'd totally take the classes. Learning a few bump and grind moves couldn't be a bad thing, right?
