Well, I guess Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez must be getting pretty serious, because they've recently been spotted perusing a few jewelry stores & checking out some major bling bling. You know -- as in diamond rings? Like the ones guys typically give girls when they get engaged? OMG. Are the Biebs and Selena really thinking about getting married soon?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, they could've been looking at pricey baubles just for the fun of it, but supposedly "sources close to the couple" are hinting at the Biebs popping the question for real. Please excuse me for a moment, because I'm not sure whether to gag a little or roll my eyes and let out a huge sigh.
Selena is only 19, and Justin is barely legal at 18, which makes them way, way too young to get married. I can't for the life of me understand why they would be in such a huge rush to settle down. I mean, it's fun to dream about the future and all that, but considering they both have booming careers and have so much time ahead of them, it just doesn't make sense for them to ruin their lives by taking the plunge this soon.
And the Biebs is the one who would really feel the heaviness of marriage weighing down on his teen heartthrob image. Can you even imagine how devastated his female fan base would be if he went off the market for good? What are all those little girls supposed to dream about if he gets hitched? He can't go and crush the hearts of lovesick teenagers -- that would just be cruel.
There are only two possible reasons for why they would rush into marriage at this point in their lives -- either they're really stupid, or their entire relationship is some kind of sham or publicity stunt and they think getting engaged will fuel the Bieber fever fire even more.
I don't care what anyone says -- the odds of spending the rest of your life with the person you dated when you were 18 are slim to none. Justin & Selena seem to have a good thing going, so why not ride it out for a few more years before making things so permanent? If they are still together when they hit their mid-20s, then I say go for it. But for now, they should just stick to the whole puppy love thing they've got going on. If it ain't broke -- don't fix it.
Check out the video clip below to see Justin & Selena lovin' it up.

I met my husband two weeks after my 15 birthday and started dating him the same day. He was 20. I got engaged to him six months later. Then married him on our three year anniversary when I was 18. Happy to say we are still married.
I truly disagree with your quote, "the odds of spending the rest of your life with the person you dated when you were 18 are slim to none.". My mother and father have been married for 41 years. Started dating at 17. My inlaws have been married for 38 years. Started dating at 16 and 19. My husband and I have been married for 10 years, and we started dating at 16 and got married at 18. It DOES happen. I'm sorry that you feel that young love is totally hopeless. Yes, it is out of the norm, but it DOES happen. You can't judge them and say it won't work because they are young. Honestly, marriages tend to fail in Hollywood even if you are older (Heidi Klum and Seal? And I can give a ton more examples).
Me and dh have been together since we were 18, we got engaged at 19 and married at 20. We are now 24 and 25 and have a 2yr old. I think some people are just mature enough to get married young and start a family....age has nothing to do with it.
