'Teen Mom' Kailyn Lowry's STD Bombshell Shows Cheaters Never Prosper

kailyn jo rivera teen mom reunion On Teen Mom, like many reality TV shows, the shockers are nonstop. It might be all fun, games, and fame for some, but Kailyn Lowry is one cast member who might be thinking about wanting off of the drama coaster. Or at least you would think that would be the case after she dropped this priceless bombshell on the reunion show yesterday: She accused her ex Jo Rivera of exposing her to a sexually transmitted disease. Not cool.

But then again, during the show's season, Kailyn was cheating on then-boyfriend Jordan Wenner with Jo. Goes to show that creeping and sneaking behind your significant other's back never ends well.

Although it was supposedly just a one-night stand, Kailyn's hook-up with her ex is a cardinal no-no. You need not be religious to agree. The only thing you have to believe in is karma.

I've seen it time and again, and this is just another perfect example. No matter what the reason, cheating is usually a terribly stupid, not-at-all thought-out decision that you can almost guarantee will end up hurting you and others in the end. The universe takes care of cheaters ... by making sure they get a nasty payback.

Karma doesn't have to come in the form of an STD though, like it did for Kailyn. More likely than not, it turns out that you get burned in the same exact way you burned an ex. I've known cheaters to find out that the ones they were cheating with were cheating on them months, even years later. Sure, a cheater could change. I do know of a couple that fell in love when they were both cheating on their spouses, and they never looked back -- or around. But I'd bet that's more rare than common.

I'm no Dr. Drew, but it sounds like if Jo had no problem hooking up with Kailyn while she was still with Jordan -- and failing to use protection -- we can safely guess that he wouldn't be the kind of guy to make the smartest, most monogamous decisions when it comes to sex. Hello recipe for an STD disaster. But Kailyn's no angel either and doesn't exactly deserve sympathy. There's a price to pay when you choose to cheat. Hopefully, Kailyn's figured that out pretty fast.

No, I used to believe in karma but I don't anymore because, realistically, people do bad stuff all the time and never get caught and are even rewarded sometimes (think politicians and dirty CEOs). Though a lack of karma still doesn't justify cheating. If you want to cheat, you obviously don't want to be with your current partner or you're confused. Either way, cheating won't resolve it - it'll only create hurt feelings. It's better to talk to your partner and try to resolve the issue together or, if it can't be resolved, split up.

Yes, I have found that karma is not something you can escape. Kailyn creeps me out. She gets an STD, tells Jordan, but doesn't tell the guy she wants to be with and thinks gave it to her (Jo). Then she admits to telling Jordan she used a condom with Jo, that it was a lie. Personally, I think she already had the STD and that's why she had shower sex (yes, gross mental picture there).

I really think that little bit of information needed to stay private. I understand these girls live out part of their lives on camera, but that should've been something that stayed between the 3 of them.

I thought that Kailyn only hooked up with Jo, and it didn't get as far as sex? Was I watching the wrong show? Was it mentioned in the aftershow/catchup?

I hate to say it but Kaitlyn got what she asked for. And yes cheating has consquesses to them. Even if you didn't mean for it to happen or did it to hurt anyone. People do make mistakes. You pay for them mistakes in the end.

Um, I think Kailyn is what, 20 years old? Despite the common proclamation in the Teen Mom franchise that having a baby makes you grow up faster, we've seen time and time again it's not so simple and that these girls do not in fact become adults by virtue of giving birth. Kailyn is only a young woman, and one severely lacking in stable role models, and her hormones and immaturity got the better of her. I don't think a kid as young as her can be labeled a "cheater" with bad karma the same way a married 30 year old might be.

Just FYI, condoms don't protect against all STDs, i.e. HPV. I'm 28 years old and have had 2 partners my entire life, one of whom I am still with and is the father of my child, and he did give me HPV with protection.

For one I do not believe in Karma....what in the world did a starving child do or an abused child do to deserve this so called Karma? I do believe you should take reponsibilty for your actions!! Kids today know more than ever about sex. They all get the talk about condoms and they know they should wear them I believe they just don't think it will happen to them. I love that Katlyn talked about it so other teenagers can see it can happen to them!!
