It's unfortunate for Chris Brown that his past behavior makes a rumor like this so believable, because for all we know, it's totally made up. But when you beat a woman to a bloody mess, throw chairs on morning shows, and tweet things like "HATE ALL U WANT BECUZ I GOT A GRAMMY Now! That's the ultimate F**K OFF!" (asterisks are mine), the public is apt to believe a girl when she says that Chris' pick-up process includes a brief introduction followed by the line: "Can I get your number? I promise I won't beat you!"
A woman who worked at the Lasio Professional Hair Care suite at the Grammys told Us Weekly that's how Chris approached her. His rep, who must really be getting tired of his job, denies the claim.
It's probably the worst pick-up line that ever was. Not only is it decidedly unfunny, but it evidences that Chris doesn't really understand what he did. And to make matters worse, his hangers-on don't either -- apparently they burst out laughing after he spewed the line, because, you know, domestic abuse is HA HA HA LOL.
More from The Stir: Chris Brown Forgiveness at the Grammys Goes Way Too Far
We've all heard some terrible lines in our day, but Chris' alleged comment is so grossly inappropriate that it has to take the cake. It makes lines like "I own the X-Files box set" and "I have a two-for-one coupon to Dave & Busters" and "Don't worry, this lip fungus is juuuuuuust about to clear itself up" and "I think I know your Dad from high school" seem downright romantic.
It's also rumored that Chris attended Rihanna's Caribbean-themed birthday party earlier this week, which would just make things even more complicated. Winning a Grammy, tweeting obscenities, joking about beating up women while picking up a woman, and attending his victim's birthday bash ... it's all too much to take in. I wonder what he'll do next. Whatever it is, though, I have a feeling I won't like it.
What do you think of Chris Brown's line?
